We could sign 3 corpses and a wooden horse and you'd still come on here and back the club claiming that it made perfect sense.

Isn’t there a rule on how many corpses we can sign? Already got about 5 or 6...

It was a disaster for the Trojans.

    Worked well for the Greeks...

Its not that corpses are bad players, we just have those positions well covered imho.

But little flexibility either at LB or LM. Now we have a player, who I'd guess can do both roles, i.e. like Caddis (RM not CM!!) can

It's vital that given how a game can be changed by an injury we have more flexibility at the back and players capable of interchanging.

To be honest, I think even if we signed Sir Tim Rice, he'd have trouble orchestrating his fellow back four.
Might be available for a song though, so worth a punt.

Questioned the Wright signing from the off. Questioned why we signed Tony McMahon permanently. Questioned the Mark Yeates signing. Can't ever rememebr using the phrase "perfect sense" before

I did defend Matthew Bates and was proven wrong. On the other hand I did praise Gareth Evans and was proven correct

Apologies, that I'm a realist and realise that we're second bottom and so relative to that, this is a decent signing

Very happy to be known as a 'happy clapper', if it means looking at the positives rather frigging moaning about virtually everything

I assume you don't think the signing of Woods is "perfect sense"? Who should we have got, Ashley Cole?

All right. Call me sad but after all the fuss I thought I would try the famous vegan sausage roll. Honestly other than the filling being a finer texture it tasted like any other "non-gourmet" sausage roll

I don't really agree. I think consistency is key, and that means keeping players in one position - the position that they are best at. Chelsea won the Prem league in 2017 with just 21 players used. Wood could (and should) have played at left back last weekend, but instead a "versatile" player like NKP was used, and within 72 seconds he'd already been found out.
I'm all for it during a game - getting a RB on as sub if we're winning and putting Cadiss as an extra body playing holding midfielder, but I'd much prefer players to get a run of games (all over the pitch) in their preferred position.

Ah yes. the usual retort of the profoundly stupid - "well who would you have signed?! just get behind the lad, ffs!"

conveniently forgets that we aren't well paid recruitment staff at a professional football club, or professional sports agents, or handle the finances at a football club - infact, we have very little chance of knowing who or what may be available and at what price.

it's perfectly reasonable to question the wisdom of any signing, especially when they appear to be opposite footed to what we perceive as an urgent need. voicing such concern does not make anyone less of a fan than you, and it doesn't mean we are negative, and it most certainly does not mean we are fishing for a bite, or trolling.

infact, in my book, you and your pal Park are worse than any of us that post critical opinions or voice concern, because you think everything the club ever does is bloody brilliant. Hopkin could sacrifice a lamb in the centre circle and you'd argue that it was vital to the future of the club to remove the curse on the stadium.

But some players can be very good in two positions. Hazard is a prime example, using Chelsea

I think it's mistaken to think that best position is the same as only position. The more flexible every team member is the better. One good thing about the front 3/4 when they're firing is that they drag defences all over as each is more or less comfortable anywhere from LM to RM and beyond

Eden Hazard is one of the best players in the world. We don’t have that luxury. In our limited squad, for us to have any hope of staying up that means players playing their best position. We tried NKP at left back. It didn’t work, never has for us. We tried Caddiss in midfield, didn’t work. Even putting McGowan and O’Connor together at centre back looks weak because they both prefer the right side. Asking Miller to do anything other than chase the ball, asking Doyle to win headers against big centre backs, the list goes on. See, our new signing Woods has to play and it has to be left back. He can’t play RB, wherw would Caddiss go? And Chicksen ain’t good enough. We really need signings whos best positions are where we are weak.

At this level, I think the versatility of players is limited. Of course those that do it really well are operating at a much higher level.
