So we're after a target man, winger and left back.

And apparently interested in bringing Billy Clarke back. Not sure which of those boxes he ticks.... And not a mention on a midfielder - which is crucial.

 

The disappointing thing for me are the statements that we'd like 1, 2 or 3 players in before the next game. When are we due to play Next FC because I can't see them in the league or the fixture list?

 

He's not selling it to me, it's all iffs and buts, thought the cavalry were gonna be here 3 weeks ago.....?

 

I can understand the idea that we might have wanted to try and use the first couple of weeks of the window to shift some out and minimise the financial hit - but we don’t have a choice now. If we don’t get 3-4 quality players in over the next week, we’re going down.

 

What are the chances based on what we've seen so far?

It will be difficult to bring people in due to financial constraints, league position and squad numbers. I think we're more likely to see players in the 30+ age bracket on 6 month deals, rather than mid 20 quality that would see us into next season. I'm not against that, provided they're fit and ready to go, but as we saw with JOB, being pushed as hard as they are brings risks of them breaking down, with longer recovery times due to age.

I also have a feeling that we'll pay off a few players if it looks like they'll still be here beyond January. No point doing that now if we can save a few bob getting somebody to takeover their contact.

 

Hopkin 100% said he would want a Striker, CM and winger on the way home from the match on the radio.

No mention of a LB.

 

It’s gonna take a long time yet to repair the Edin Rahic shit show. Saturday’s fan reaction was that of a set of supporters who had come to the realisation that the repairs to the hull of the sinking ship haven’t stopped the intake of water. There are too many things off the field that will influence on the field matters, probably way into next season. This is our most difficult January since being back in league one.

 

Spot on. A week or two ago I got stick for saying the one aim is to finish fifth from the bottom. That was when people on here were bragging how much they would take from the bookies when we made the play offs, well.......
In my view it could be anything up to three/ five years before we are back on an even keel, such is the damage across all sectors of the Club and that is based on Stefan continuing the great support he has given over the last months and Julian making the right decision about the next Chief Exec. Pivotal weeks to come.

How has it come to this?

Well we know how, but to have been on the up, season after season, to where we are now is soul destroying. Staying up this season will almost feel like going up.

 

We are certainly in a bit of a predicament . Which players, with the quality we need to get us out of trouble are going to want to sign for us on a permanent deal, knowing there is a real possibility they could end up playing in league 2 next season if they do? Our best chance then of getting the quality we need, would be to bring in 3 or 4 championship players that aren't getting game time at their parent clubs on loan until the end of the season. But we can't do that because we already have 5 players on loan. What a pickle we are in.
