You should have shouted louder as I never heard you and I am in the upper kop.

The ‘toxic factor’ is one that worries me.

It isn’t toxic yet. There was a lot of frustration and concern in the stands today. Some boos and venting etc. But it didn’t properly turn.

We have a big group of new players still finding their feet and to me there looks to be a lack of leadership. We don’t have well established players who’re engrained in the club and have a rapport with fans. There’s no connection yet.

If our next two games bring defeats and poor performances - which is very very possible, things will start to turn and the make up of the players is such that I think they’ll become very affected and easily disengaged.

Given various events and rumour over the last 18 months especially, the needle is hovering nearer to the red zone than is the case for most clubs. It’ll take much less for fans to turn and for that toxic element to linger for longer.

I think we’re going to be bang in trouble this season.

the people that were booing when we were going long were the same people who were booing when we tried to keep possession of the ball. pretty sure less than 15% of those who attend VP have never stepped foot on a football pitch.

Yes I would be one of them. However, just because you have never played football doesn’t automatically exclude you from knowing the game. By the way I have never boo’d my team or players, not sure how this helps the players, apart from venting your own frustrations. Don’t turn this onto the fans impatience or implied ignorance, this is about our club being run to a rigid plan that is not working. A manager who should not have been put in this position, and a co-owner who wants to be in charge of everything.

Not sure why that matters. Fans pay their money, they have a right to an opinion.

There was little booing when McCall played it short.

There were plenty of people who saw the football under Grayson as being completely insipid, but largely because we had crap players and many who didn’t give a monkeys.

The football was direct under parky, but with a mixture of talent and application. Very little booing and actually the atmospheres under him we’re the best we’ve had for years.

Give fans some evidence of a cohesive plan with a bit of talent and hard work and there’ll be few real rumblings

Keefly, I'm sure you have an opinion of me. For the record I was god damn frustrated today and I swore a few profanities towards the pitch in general play. But not at Edin, not at MichelM . I understand this is a game, nothing more.

Life is much more important than football.

Btw I'm in the upper kop too

To be fair I think some fans are overly negative, I've sat near some who will literally complain no matter what we do. Of course when things are going badly, the negative people are going to be twice as loud. But there is genuine cause for concern, just because some lunatic was frothing at the mouth when we were cruising to a playoff place it doesn't mean that we should be quiet when there are genuinely worrying signs.

No the people booing were just booing the shite they were seeing on the pitch. I wasn't one of them as I was actually not that arsed by half time. Just to match the players input.

I have no opinion of you but it was you that raised the comment about the chant. Why mention it then?

ok, so knowing the game would be understanding that without the ball you can't score a goal.. so booing when we try and keep the ball is ridiculous. sometimes the forward pass isn't always on, or players are trying to manoeuvre to a position where a decisive pass can be played, or waiting for the opposition to make a mistake / lose concentration then capitalising on that mistake. keeping hold of the ball is a good thing, booing when we do isn't.

    Depends on the context.

Today, any attempts at ‘keeping the ball’ were through a lack of options, because not one of them could be arsed to run into space to try and create an opportunity for a pass.

It wasn’t the short passing people were booing - it was the abject lack of energy, effort and coaching that were so clearly on display from minute one - and if we’re honest, have been on display for 90% of the minutes we’ve played this season.

Thanks for the lesson, but not sure why you are telling me all that, as I have just said I don’t boo, and usually understand most of what goes on a football field. Maybe, the fans were taking an overall view of the game and had become frustrated and angry? Perhaps you may wish to comment on our current situation?

so if there are no options, we should just get rid of the ball as there is nothing on? or we should keep hold of the ball until there is? at least if we keep hold of the ball the opposition don't have it and then when they press it may open spaces for there to be an increase in options. basics.

If there are no options, we should be coaching the players to move and create options. Which a capable coach would do.

What we saw today (and this season) isn't a style based on patient possession. It's a lack of any sort of identifiable playing style resulting in players keeping the ball for a bit and going nowhere before Chicksen knocks it into touch.

Fair enough. The title raised by the OP is toxic, such a chant, a poor chant btw imo, is relevant, imo.
