Selling an extra few thousand shirts a season wouldnt give us enough extra income that would really make a difference. Getting promotion is the way to really make a difference to the income and the way we achieve that is to back the lads on the pitch, home and away, not sat in front of ifollow drinking tea from your brand new City mug.

Don’t worry, the ‘real’ fans will support the lads all season to get us to the business end of the season and when it really matters the away end will be filled with shirt wearing , scarf buying, flag waving tv watching part timers.
Let’s see how that pans out.

What alarms me about this points system is that it is divisive. It is dividing supporters into groups with one set claiming to be the best supporters because they can attend all the away matches and the lowest of the low is supporters who can only attend a few home matches.

For me if you support your team we should be all together regardless of how many away games you attend. Money invested into the club is money they can spend on players etc etc.

I have been a supporter of this club since 1967, and the OH even longer, I have no idea how much time effort and money we have invested and I don’t regret a penny or a minute. Obviously we were very active when we were younger like all the younger fans are now. We still buy a season ticket and attend when we can.

There is no fair way to distribute limited away tickets. I would prefer the old scheme where you bought an extra ticket so you get first dibs on the away tickets. As it is now these points are useless to thousands and have every body squabbling about whether they have had all their allocation or not.

    Seriously?

Football is a spectator sport, that same support that backs it's team, encourages and vocally backs it's team. Not everything is about cash at the till at Bradford City and Valley Parade...success and cash generation can be found by success away from VP.....
    So short sighted thinking

I keep forgetting that league positions are decided by number of away fans we take to games.

would be interesting to see if there actually is a coronation between our results and the number of fans we had there

The old priority card was massively unfair as it enabled fans (some well known on here) the ability to spend £30, guarantee tickets for big games and never need to support the team away from home.

I know as I said no system is fair. It could be tinkered with. You still have to attend a percentage of away games before qualifying for the big games. Also once you have completed say 75% of away matches you get a refund of your money. I don’t think the old system was as divisive as this scheme. Fans accepted that it was reasonably fair that if you paid for a season away ticket you were entitled to go to the front of the queue for away tickets.

No one suggested it was but when managers and players speak of the "12th Man" and how the backing of the fans really helps to push them that extra yard then I'm happy to believe a larger, vocal away end helps in some way.

That's EXACTLY what we have now and the very thing you're arguing is divisive?

It's because it's an easy debate. The loyalty point system for tickets is widely accepted by the vast majority, not just at Bradford but at the bigger clubs up and down the land, as the fairest way to allocate tickets for over subscribed away games.

I miss out on plenty of games too due to work commitments and then not being able to accrue enough points so it's not even as if I'm peddling a selfish point of view, it's just that the whole system makes complete sense.

and I just wondered if it actually did or not. A bit like playing towards the kop in the second half, does it actually help?

    And his point isn't true.

Every away ticket sold at the BCAFC ticket office they get a small percentage of - think it's 5%.

That can't be referring to me as I also went to many away games whilst having my priority card/ticket, I never said it was fair, but don't blame any fan who could see that by buying a priority ticket it GURANTEED you an away ticket for your game of choice, mine was Chelsea away, it's a similar situation with the membership scheme I bought one and was immediately credited with 100 points which is the equivalent to 5 away games that also gives the membership member a head start wouldn't you say :eek2:.

The team and manager have almost always made a point after an away win this season of how important the away fans were and how we dragged them over the line, as it gives the players so much belief. There is no way on gods earth a larger away end doesn't help the players at times

The current loyalty point system is the most fairest to suit THE MAJORITY of supporters. In any situation in anything in life, there is always going to be a minority that is inconvenienced, it is nigh on impossible to please every single person the whole time. Why the hell Sparks & Co now want to break this tried & tested system by introducing points for purchases in the shop and womens games, absolutely beggars belief. It will simply piss off the fans

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
