Wrong-footed? Slightly off balance? If he could've simply wellied it, I'm sure he would've done.

Because we use the 'Boomarang' system ........ Hard and high = guaranteed return ! ;)
I'd rather we play the Ice Hockey way - Keep the Pucker on the deck !!

A simple instep block would have had a chance - Any 'bounce or deflection' would have had it in the net.

(Edit ....... As a nipper, I employed this often as we played SLAM ;) )

Improvements in nearly a third of the positions still suggests we are some way off ? Add a creative midfielder and i agree with main areas of a attention.

I have read and agree with the target man type forward needed. It doesn’t need to be a big man who heads it all the time although that would be a plus but one who can bring it down and play it around too.

We played a lot of balls up to miller and if 70% of those stick and he can lay them off, we are up the pitch and will create more chances and at the same time ease the pressure on our defence. Problem at the minute is it comes back quite quick and we are under pressure again

Gutted by yesterday's result felt we deserved more, if the penalty had gone in then who knows but that's all ifs and buts of course.

I'm no happy clapper but have a few positive observations from yesterday:
    • Wood - remember seeing him for 45 minutes at Guiseley pre season thinking Christ I hope he's nowhere near our first team but he's really improving. He's a young player with little experience and has been chucked in due to injuries but he's really come on since this run of games. Think maybe he's got over initial nerves we could have a decent player on our hands
    • O'Connor - quite like him in midfield did a good job and took his goal well - perhaps that's a position he could nail down. Wright seems meh, and who knows when Reeves will play again so let O'connor make the position his own
    • Mellor - think that's the best I've seen him play, good pace overlapping well
On the negative, Scannell, feel p!ssed off that a so called senior player would get drawn into reacting now that's him out for 3. This could give Gibson an opportunity which I would love him to grasp (but if I'm being honest don't think he will as he seems to try too hard).

Kai - kind of feel sorry for the lad. No lack of effort but definite lack of ability. As soon as both Ball and Miller were off i felt any chance of an equaliser evaporated.

From being heralded as a marquee signing I'm so disappointed with Scannell

Agree with all of your post. I think Scannell must have wanted sending off. First shove yellow card, then if the ref was in doubt simulate a head butt and shove the player who came to finish winding up process!!!!

I have also been pleased with Wood. He seems to be getting better every game, and he has really taken his chance well since Chicksen got injured.

Mellor had his best game of the season, and is now beginning to look like the player I thought we would be signing after impressing at Blackpool.

O'Connor did far better than I was expecting in midfield, and took his goal well

mentioned Wood to a few people yesterday. Seemed fairly composed, nothing like I had been lead to believe based on his earlier performances. Could he be the "golden ticket" in the future?

On his performances so far I would say at present he is more comfortable as a wing back than as a full back, so better going forward and ok defensively as long as there is some support.
Although we lost, he was my City man of the match away at Doncaster. He is improving in the full back role though and I like his work rate.

I can’t get my head around the constant criticism of Edin for every single issue with the players.

The fact that our players were totally unfit and tactically not prepared is entirely the fault of the previous management regime. I accept that as chairman, Edin takes some responsibility as he appointed MC and co but surely it’s about 80% MC and 20% Edin at fault.

You’re fighting a losing battle with that stance but I agree totally

If the best we can hope for is a draw, then over a season, that would be 46 points at the most, and then it would be clog dancing on the trap door! Do not forget the results against some of the average and indeed ‘poor’ teams.

I'm sure youve heard the saying "the buck stops here" well from the end of last season once we knew Grayson was not accepting the job and every candidate Edin interviewed was not up for it in Edins opinion ( none turned Edin down were given to believe) Collins & co were not in the frame at that time so you have to assume Edin along with Abbott (who was awaiting an operation) made all the necessary arrangements for pre season friendlies ETC.
The players were recruited by the commitee with Collins throwing his 2 pence worth in and we finish up with the fiasco we have seen so far this season.
Edin and Stefan were happy to take the accolades in their first season when McCall got us to Wembley, so I dont think it unreasonable to lay the blame at Mr I know footballs door for where we are at the present time.
Edin really needs David Hopkin to dig him out of this self made hole we're in, because in most Bradford City's fans eyes it is very much of Edins making.

A draw against a side who will in my opinion be top two. Not saying anywhere in my post we should be drawing every week however?

There's an excellent video of the key moments of the Sunderland match on You Tube-"Pitchside Bradford City v Sunderland". I'm sure someone on here with better computer skills than me can provide a link?

The above video provides another angle for Sunderland's opening goal.
