In January 2014, Parky lost a lot of players, including his entire left side of his team with Reid and Mezza both ruled out. He had just lost Wells, and replaced him with McLean, and due to injuries we were fielding some right weirdos. I don't even remember a Gary McKenzie.

Davies was put, and a string of others.

Parkinson said it was the toughest time in eleven years of management.

We lost twice that January, and people are still upset with the lack of quality of the signings that Winter (McLean will be remembered forever, no doubt).

Billy Clarke was our top scorer with a whopping 13 goals, so you know put striking options were limited.

    We finished seventh.

Nobody said 'I was happy with our efforts' when McLean couldn't hit a barn door, Davies was injured long term, and we had no left side.

We even lost Pickford for a while that season, with a squad cobbled together and patched up with near double figure loans (who needed time to gel...)

    What are our excuses again...?

Nothing can hide the fact we are having a disgraceful season.

I don't understand your comment. There was more endeavour and tackling from a City team than I've seen on the last few times we've been down from Scotland.

thanks for telling us. we all know we are doing badly. I couldn't work out what you are trying to say in that quote. last time we were rubbish we finished 7th so we will again? You didn't link the two scenarios or say why 2014 was relevant?

Why are you comparing it to a time 3 years into parkys reign?

In our first year under him we had 3 less points at this stage. I think at that point we would have been happy with the efforts.

We went on a shocking run from October until December only winning one game in 7 and then it turned.

There’s no doubting it’s been a poor season so far but 4 points in a week is an improvement and Hopkin appears to be getting it right

    A little contradictory mate ?.

I totally agree with the Edin comment, we need to see what Hopkin can get out of the likes of Wright, Akpan, Riely, and get Reeves and Jones playing something like.

    Injuries are irrelevant.

There was a time when we actually had good players. When we lost them, our team was decimated.

Crying over Josh Wright and Hope Akpan being out? Really?

There is no excuse for being 22nd. If Parkinsons worst ever spell in management saw us finish seventh, that should be where our expectations lie now.

    But they don't.

They lie at 'I right enjoyed that we TRIED'.

What I'm saying is, we're so bad it's embarrassing, and making excuses and trying to build a positive narrative is insane.

If we don't accept how bad we are, we simply won't make the requisite changes. That may include replacing Hopkin, but we already know it involves replacing half the team (and not with the illustrious injured), our transfer committee, and obviously Rahic.

What you got from this team today was the most you're ever going to get out of it. There won't be much more improvement because the quality isn't there

I’ll judge them when we haven’t got a kid and a Center half in midfield thanks

Can anyone explain to me why we got a penalty?

I saw Power kick out but by then the ball was dead. I always thought if the ball was not on the field of play then no free kick/penalty could be awarded?

Was still in play when the kick occurred. Then went out?

Maybe the ref fecked up allowing their first goal, saw it on the monitor in the dressing room at half time and decided to even it up given the chance

Judge them when Hopkin has had ten games... Judge them after January Window... Judge them come august.

Bore off, you keep doing this. How about you live in the present. And just to add to that stupid comment, you really think we've anything that's currently missing that's going to make our midfield any better? Apart from Payne they're all well below average players to partner him.

Well one major difference is the guys that assembled the team that Parky struggled so badly to turn the corner with were LONG GONE by October.

We knew the damage would not be repeated the next Summer.

Do you see the main difference?

So if Power had chinned McGowan in the box while waiting for a corner to come across , you wouldn't want a pen

cheers. fair dos. the difference I suppose being the form in the first half of the season in 2014 made the January more negative especially as you knew what the side was capable of. we have being bad this season but we are seeing signs of recovery. no-one is saying it's acceptable. however some see us starting on a upward curve than being on a slide. when a fat person loses a few pounds in a week they are still fat but it's a positive trend

We are indeed, but there’s nothing wrong with being pleased that we are finally seeing some effort and commitment from the players at last. McCall couldn’t get that out of the squad in his last few weeks in charge. Grayson couldn’t and Collins certainly couldn’t. With some improved performances and some players coming back from injury there are signs that we might be alright. Not good necessarily and no where near where we should be but at least ‘alright’

If Hopkin gets the chance to put his stamp on things with the signings he wants then I genuinely believe we can move forward. Given what we’ve been through over the last few years that’s a huge ‘if’ though.

    I keep doing what?

We played a really strong side today and I won’t judge and come here throwing my dummy out of the pram

On another day we should have drawn.

There won’t be many sides who beat Sunderland this season.

4 points this week. We’ve had worse weeks and it’s time to start an unbeaten run now. Especially at home.
