So Swindon fans reckon Williams was on over 4k a week with them, we apparently offered considerably more and Gillingham have offered more than us. That could mean they are paying around 5k a week for 3 years for a player who is injury prone and even when fit, struggles to last longer than about an hour. I think we've dodged a bullet.

I'm not even sure that Charlie Wyke would be insurable at the moment.

I suspect that he has been able to play at Wigan because he was already within their group employee insurance scheme. A very different situation if he wanted to change clubs and his health had to be underwritten again.

We desperately need 2 good midfielders with energy and pace, We struggled badly last season with Smallwoods lack of pace and Gilliead who has bags of energy but plays the easy option sideways to much instead of driving us forward stifling attacks at times

 

Smallwood needs a certain partner to get the best out of him. I've not seen MacDonald play but if he is to sign i hope its a player that complements Smallwood rather than mirrors him.

I’m not trying to have a dog at the club here but it’ll probably sound like one. But how many clubs in the last say 4 years up and down the leagues have had promotions by being fully sustainable and that includes no investment into the academy(which also has the potential to eat into the budget if we don’t sell enough players) etc. it probably needs a separate thread but I bet there aren’t many these days. Sadly football is all about the money these days, you don’t get far without private investment which is why despite crowds and sponsorships we are still in league 2.

 

The budget was there the manager chose to spread it thinly. He refused to play several players he brought in.

We're not going to give anything away about possible targets because it alerts other clubs, jack's the fee up (where applicable) and also salary/length of contract.
I prefer the club to keep quiet and go about its business without a lot hooplah about this target or another and it come to nowt

 

I think we have made a start. We retained Cook when many thought we wouldn’t. We looked at the stats from last season and saw we conceded far to many from corners so we have brought in more height. We lacked goals fro midfield and now we have brought in a player who was in the top ten in the division for both goals and assist. And the big thing is recruitment is still ongoing. Probably best to save your criticism to the final product
