He thinks he’s good at it whilst everybody else is sniggering.

 

Agyei is only 1 step removed from coveting former players, in that he played well against us one time so that's the impression he's left with fans: a direct, fast, quality attacking player.

It's different with a Jonny Williams who has played well against us numerous times and is a known commodity, and proved to be an actual target.

But what do people expect from fans? They aren't going to suggest a League One player that's 22 years old that they've never seen play or heard of.

But yeah, calls for unrealistic signings like Wyke or Wells don't help anyone, least of all the player that comes in that doesn't have the same reputation - they're always going to look like a disappointment when placed side-by-side with players synonymous with us playing great football at a higher level or rocketing in 20+ goals in a promotion season that also saw us at Wembley twice.

You know what, though, I actually agree with @Fordy117 somewhat here - why can't someone at the club who isn't Mark Hughes come out and say to Simon Parker, no, we're not after x or y, but we've got a bunch of targets. If someone at the club gave Parker and the T&A a sense of what we weren't after - without revealing our secrets - then do it.

The Agyei one has been rumbling on for weeks and it doesn't sound like he's a proper target, he's just a memorable player who happened to perform against us recently.

The players we're currently signing aren't even on the released list, either, as we're beating their former clubs to them.

 

We're not going to give anything away about possible targets because it alerts other clubs, jack's the fee up (where applicable) and also salary/length of contract.
I prefer the club to keep quiet and go about its business without a lot hooplah about this target or another and it come to nowt

 

If that's a response to my post, I totally agree - what I suggested was telling us when we aren't after a player.

The club could easily have come out and said Agyei isn't a target, it wouldn't have affected us signing Pattison instead.

Football fans are creatures of habit and they're bound to want a player that's been linked with us for 3 or 4 weeks rather than some guy we've never heard of or noticed.

 

Yes, because the club will feed speculation before a deal is done - thats clever after the Williams episode.

You really do need to sit in a dark room and think about the things you say.

 

Why are not Manchester City or Manchester Utd it’s not going to Jack the fee up at all. Bloody hell even Newcastle local says who they are going for and they are the richest club in the world.

 

Rumour has no real basis, speculation does.

Andrew Dallas joining a EFL team apparently sure we was linked to him in January at some point so just putting it out there

 

He does fairly regularly rubbish certain rumours

 

Dallas had a spell at Chesterfield on loan.
Know very little about him but apparently he was a stand out performer in a descent Moors side.
Location wouldn't of thought would be a problem but I'm not sure Hughes is a risk taker and there lies the problem.

 

I have sympathy with what you say but overall I like the way the club keeps its cards close to their chest. It’s the way to be

 

If that had happened with the Williams saga and Parker’s nod nod wink wink articles then no body would have been the wiser and nobody would have gotten wound up with conspiracy theories.

Speculating on a rumour, now I understand.

 

New defender incoming. Kyron Gordon according to Insider Bantam (gave Taylor and McDonald before anyone else).

CB, Sheff Utd and 21 years old. Doesnt have many games under his belt but looks like a squad filler. Probably the end of Odusina.

 

Another CB?. Although, as you say probably a squad player, where does that leave Kelly, presume Odusina will be on his way for sure
