Is it (just) possible that McDonald if signed might mean Smallwood moves on?

 

Yes I know it wasn’t money, I was pointing out Wrexham’s dollars can’t necessarily buy the players they think and everyone will roll over and say yes please.

Clearly Williams proved otherwise.

 

Why?

 

Anything's possible I guess, but I think it would be extremely unlikely.

 

I doubt Smallwood will be going anywhere if Mcdonald signs , we need 2 players for every position incase of injuries.

 

Wrexham are definitely fishing in a different pond when it comes to sponsorship opportunities. I think a post above stated their turnover was estimated to be £20 million for last season - it was £5.9 million the season before. That is astounding!

Fair play to Ryan and Rob. They are definitely astute businessmen.

 

What gives the McDonald rumour precedence over the rest!

 

Because it's come from the same source that said we'd signed Taylor before it was announced.

The diamond worked pretty well last season. Results decent.

Agree. In Wrexham's case they can make money off the back of social media and other sponsorship or endorsements. Its not a league two way of doing things. It's more like the top level teams who sign players because they know that the shirt sales will cover x amount of wages but its something we'll have to get used to with them because they have a different mindset and approach when it comes to raising revenue. Their owners arent ingrained with 50 years of "how we've always done it".

What that means is they will be in for a different calibre of player and any top rated league two ones, like Williams, they will be in for as well. Thing is, they do still face the same problem as all of us in this league - does a player really want to drop down, will Wrexham really be promoted when others have said the same and struggled. The doubt will still be there and I think that will be a frustration for them in their recruitment.

 

He seems to have got over it and at 34 is a perfect age for Hughes rebuilding the team

 

I'm sick to death of hearing about wonderful Wrexham on our transfer rumours pages , if your that infatuated about them go support the sheep shaggers !!!!!

 

We desperately need 2 good midfielders with energy and pace, We struggled badly last season with Smallwoods lack of pace and Gilliead who has bags of energy but plays the easy option sideways to much instead of driving us forward stifling attacks at times

 

Agree with that Kevin but it seems Gills Dollars can. Signed Alfie May who Wrexham wanted but was going to Charlton until Gills threw the cheque book at him

 

Someone’s a bit jealous and bitter of Wrexham. Chin up! Odour and Taylor are firing us up the football league.

 

Well in fairness Wrexham wouldn’t be an infatuation for some if Bradford City wasn’t failing as a club. Has to be the most failure of a club in league football but we all hope that will change next season.

 

Where have you seen that? I know that's been a rumour for a few days but I've not seen it confirmed anywhere he's actually signed for them.
