Not sure how many Strikers Hughes wants but I’d say we have space for possibly one more. I’d take Hunter here.

 

I never understood the Vernam 18month deal because despite him not lighting Burton up for whatever reason there was enough evidence to prove him as much better than anything we had, and was always going to be an asset to any mid table L2 side like ourselves.

 

Hunter is more of a left winger than a striker. He’s an ideal replacement for Vernam if Vernam doesn’t re-sign for us.

 

I've an optimistic feeling Vernam is staying, I think his head was turned initially with a move closer to home but I think the MH factor has made him think twice, and my reason for this thinking is if he was going Lincoln why would he stall the announcement? Unless he was unsure obviously, but otherwise there be no benefit to him at all with delaying any announcement.

 

I'd hazard a guess that Vernam has a few offers and has taken a holiday to think things through properly. It could even be that an interested party was in the playoffs and decisions might be based on which league any such team is in for next season

 

I'd prefer Dom Telford from Newport to compliment what we already have got. Hughes did sign him when at Stoke from Blackpool, so there is a connection there. Just two things, we'll probably get gazumped by someone in league one like a Barnsley, MK Dons or Oxford. As well as, he scored a lot last season, the first in his career, can he replicate that again, but in another team.

 

Twitter linking us to Southampton's Dynel Simeu who's been on loan at Carlisle since January (18 apps). Highly rated, started his career at Chelsea, 20 years old Cameroonian centre back.

Whether true or not, again this is the sort of signing I'm liking, progressive up and coming, not the journeyman type again.

 

If we were interested I think Newport would demand a fee we might be reluctant to meet, but you don't know if you don't ask.

 

He's out of contract. They've offered him a new deal but he's over 25 so they wouldn't be entitled to any compensation.

 

I read he was offered an 18 month contract which took him to January 2023, even better if he's looking to move back up North him being a Burnley lad.

 

They must have financial issues if they can only offer him 18 months rather than two years

 

Has Pereira been released, it just say has returned on Luton's website . With Glen Rea and Elliot Lee. It reads to me that
Elliot Lee has been released, but not clear on the other two.
