I'm not sure why everyone is writing off Songo'o.

Probably just because he's not shiny and new but given his performances at the back end of last year I'd have thought he's certainly in contention to start against Donny.

 

I think Stockport could be in for a nasty shock tbh had Wrexham not bottled it then they may have been still down there ............ they’ve done well to go up don’t get me wrong but this is a new level where money can’t buy you everything as we know more than anyone

You’re right of course but at least we will have some ups, and not the continuous downs as per the last five or so seasons.

 

I think it’s the first time ages it’s almost impossible to predict the starting eleven

as long as @Fordy117 is on it

I cant see us wanting to ship a striker out now, unless one asks to leave. I know most teams want 4 strikers but if you have Lee Angol, you need 5 as it's impossible to trust the lads hamstrings. Along with the signing of Oliver, who's main selling point is he wins everything in the air, it just points to us playing 2 up top. We aren't going to sign a guy with the USP of winning headers, and not play a partner within 20 yards of him, that's just brainless.

Two strikers starting, along with the new 5 sub rule and injuries, all 5 will get game time over the season without a doubt. It's just if that rotation policy will suit a guy like Cook who is used to starting. Through MHs Stoke career, he often had 4 or 5 strikers on the books and he'd always have one that started around 25-30 games, but all the other 3 or 4s seasonal stats read along the lines of 15 starts, 15 sub apps. Wingers were similar, he's always been a rotation manager.

 

Fair observation.

 

Against Derby first half, Walker played in behind but right up to Angol. It was more Mills and Blake in terms of distance apart than last season when the striker had nobody within 20 yards of him. Second half the shape was a bit all over the place but Cook and Kian were still often close by.

 

I heard Morecambe are in for Cook.

 

I can see someone being in for him. With Huddersfield wanting Harratt to have game time, Angol pretty much playing if fit and Oliver being given a three year contract, Cook won't be getting much game time. Plus it's a big wage that can be spent better elsewhere.

 

Stockport have a very good Manager. He got Hartlepool to mid table on a fraction of the budget he has with Stockport.
They gave us a lesson at VP last season.

 

Scott Quigley going to Morecambe from Stockport. We were apparently looking at him but signed Oliver instead.

 

I can only ever see him coming on as a last 15 min “ impact” sub if we are chasing a game RT.
