Looks like he’s had them in the past but played 37 games in the league last season so could be over them or just fluke, either way it’s not a great look on a club to release someone due to injury record then have Jonny Williams as a key player and high earner. The guys kept many a physio in a job.

    Yeah it's an odd one.

Checks out that Crawley would snap him up based on the figures, given that's what they've said they're gonna do.

Signing one of the top scorers and a ball playing defender with very high passing stats is certainly not a nightmare start.

No idea what Swindon are doing, like.

Bradford City finished 18th in League 2 in season 2010/11 and 2011/12. Season 2012/13 we finished 7th!

Previous seasons do not form a reliable basis on how the team will perform the following season.

    They generally do.

Usually if you finish that low, you aren't getting autos.

I’ve tried to keep track of the ongoings this year as usually I don’t have a club tbh at league 2 level other than our own players. So far from what I’ve seen excluding ourselves as there’s bias at play I’d say Crawley, Stockport and Northampton look to have done the best business. Swindon and Hartlepool look the worst regressions so far to me but it could all change. On Hartlepool it seems they’re signing like we did with Archie Christie cheap Scottish Championship players, suppose it could pay off but wouldn’t surprise me if they were strugglers this season. Not seen much of Mansfield’s business so far but imagine they’ll be strong.

That's strange. What's money got to do with a loan signing unless they were willing to pay a big loan fee to get him

I personally don't think you can put too much stock into a previous seasons final league position.

Look at the Championship last season. Both Town and Forest finished 20th and 17th respectively in the previous season. Roll forward to 2021/22 and they finished 3rd and 4th.

You have to consider so many other factors than simply where a team finished the previous year. In particular, their transfer activity as they build up to a new season. Has new money or a new manager come to completely change the dynamic of the club. These things can have significant impacts and drastically improve a club/team.

I'd certainly agree with those picks.

Hartlepool seem to be panicking about the fact they can't keep their players, whereas Swindon seem to be giving them away for some reason.

AFC Wimbledon have only signed one player, but only really lost two of note - the centre back they've replaced (Ben Heneghan out, Alex Pearce in - not a bad swap). That stability could be key. Midtable?

Barrow don't look very strong, unless Pete Wild can work another miracle maybe they're Relegation candidates?

Carlisle United as it stands have weakened pretty considerably, but there's time, Bottom half?

Colchester United have had three out, two in, not much has changed there, Midtable?

Crawley Town look like they're going to continue signing decent quality Play offs or top half?

Crewe Alexandra look to have weakened, and signed League Two journeymen, Midtable?

Doncaster Rovers look mediocre as well, Midtable/Bottom half?

Gillingham look to have covered most of their losses, Play offs or top half?

Grimsby Town are not looking convincing, Relegation candidates?

Harrogate Town haven't strengthened much, Bottom half?

Hartlepool United have lost key players and 'gone Scottish', which has always failed for us, Relegation candidates?

Leyton Orient look to have done solid business so far, Midtable?

Mansfield Town have largely kept their squad together, Play offs?

Newport County have potentially signed pretty well, perhaps they can build off their midtable finish, Play offs?

Northampton Town have lost a few good players, but if Danny Hylton hits form, they could once again challenge, Automatics?

Rochdale appear to have strengthened slightly, Midtable/Bottom half?

Salford City will certainly be looking for promotion, lost a few good players, but a couple of good signings, Play offs?

Stevenage look to have signed very well to me, could they be dark horses, Play offs?

Stockport County aren't resting on their laurels, I think they'll be up there, Automatics?

Sutton United have done nothing of note in the transfer market, and I'd honestly expect them to regress, Bottom half?

Swindon Town are having a bit of a 'mare, IMO, Midtable/Bottom half?

Tranmere Rovers have lost a TON of experience, not convinced, Bottom half?

Walsall have signed a lot of new players, looks decent on paper, but will it work, Midtable?

    1. Northampton Town
    2. Stockport County
    3. Bradford City
    4. Mansfield Town
    5. Salford City
    6. Crawley Town
    7. Newport County
    8. Stevenage
    9. Gillingham
    10. Crewe Alexandra
    11. Leyton Orient
    12. Walsall
    13. AFC Wimbledon
    14. Doncaster Rovers
    15. Colchester United
    16. Tranmere Rovers
    17. Swindon Town
    18. Rochdale
    19. Sutton United
    20. Carlisle United
    21. Harrogate Town
    22. Grimsby Town
    23. Hartlepool United
    24. Barrow

How about that for a quick guess?

    Sure.

I mean, I've said all along, play offs isn't out of the question, but autos are very unlikely if you finish as low as that.

Both of those examples show teams reaching the play offs, but I'll give you it considering they finished so high.

I'm hoping we'll be the exception to the rule, but let's not pretend it's not unlikely - it will be a massive achievement, not something we should be casually expecting.

Some posters struggle to keep the bulge in their pants under control at this time of year, lol

How big a budget is doesn’t dictate how successful your season is. Yes it makes a big difference, But its about how its managed, as we have learned the hard way over the last few years

Now to get out of League Two, You need

    1) A good manager who sets up his team well an can get the best out of his players. We have the most experienced manager in the League and assistant staff knowledgeable in the lower leagues

    2) A decent sized squad which won’t buckle as a result of a few injuries in certain areas. Our squad looks relatively strong baring RB an RW. We have multiple options in all other positions an in each case, We have players with League Two experience at a minimum

    3) Good Home Form. This one remains to be seen, 14k at Valley Parade can either scare players or galvanise them. We need to do our part an make Valley Parade a fortress

    4) 2-3 Players a league above in quality. We have Smallwood, Walker, Chapman. 3 players who could easily get into most League One teams.

    5) A strong defence. The additions of Odusina, Crichlow an Platt will bolster us. It can’t be any worse than our defence last year surely

    6) Reliable goal sources. Angol, Cook, Harratt, Young, Chapman, Walker, Eisa. These are players that are capable of scoring goals at this level given the oppertunity to do so

Im not saying we will crush the league, as much as I would like for us to do so. But our team is strong, We have a good manager, We have the best fans in the league. Thats not be being overly optimistic an egotistical. Those are facts. What other teams do doesn’t faze me, An non of them scare me scare me either.

We have started this summer strong. The core of our squad is here in time for the beginning of Pre Season. I see no reason as to why Automatics is not a realistic aim. Although truth be told, We should be aiming for the title

There are a lot of factors to consider over the season like injuries been one of them and can ruin a clubs chances . You can also look at the recruitment and a club could make some quality signings but it doesn't make them into a great team if they don't gel and a club that make average signings could have a great work ethic and be challenging at the top end of the league.

Probably take this with a pinch of salt, but one half of the City Vent boys was commenting on a John Marquis rumour to Wimbledon. He said, wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at City, "i'm not in the know by the way", just have a sneaky feeling.

I'm guessing we'd have to shift Cook on if this were to happen, however wouldn't surprise me if he did go to Wimbledon, as he's a London lad.

    Chicken feed LOL.
It just highlights more , the stupid salaries of some footballers, if an 18 year old with zero games can earn money than most of us could not even dream of ,or higher than lots of pro's with years of experience playing at a lower level.
    Premier league stupidity.

Hughes saying today that we've pretty much got every player we targeted. We've missed out on a few, but they've mainly gone to a club in a higher league. Whether the players work out or not, what a refreshing change to hear we are signing our first choices and signing them early, rather than hearing the usual excuses about having to wait on other clubs and then missing out and ending up with our 3rd or 4th choices.
