Smallwood has turned down advances due to location apparently....it happens fella.

 

I completely forgot about them. They left little cryptic clues to lure you in, then completely rinsed you of cash by stringing it out.

 

There was some long intro “bringing you the news…..views and …..interviews…..direct from Valley Parade”. I can even remember the number I called it so much: 0898 888 640. I’m sure my parents were relieved I wasn’t ringing those dodgy ones (the ones apparently, ahem, you could talk “live” with a “lady” for just £1 a minute), but God bless them, I racked up some reet phone bills during pre season and Saturday evenings.

 

We were quite a poor family so I had to choose between Clubcall and the Ladies.

 

A friend of my wife used to work part time as a "lady", she was an actress in local rep. Used to take calls in spare time, mostly while she was doing her ironing.

 

I’ve worked at BT for the last 30+ years and all telephone exchanges had telephone lines that weren’t restricted or monitored.

Spent many hours over the years in the warmth of an exchange listening to premium rate club call information.

 

She could probably tell you more about football than the official club "news" line.

 

Men eh....

I was thinking more Fordy, Rcbantam or Parader, because I agree with many things @parks posts doesn't make him my mate, we've had our disagreements in the past why Parky walked, Rahic being a con man and the goings on within the club during his time there, and the Paladini situation.

 

In between doing the five knuckle shuffle while listening in to ‘busty mature’ !

 

Randomly I just remembered playing away at Keele University and they had a phone at the leisure centre for emergencies. One lad from Singapore rang home to talk to his mum for 20 mins, a couple of Norwegians rang home. Now we have skype etc which costs pittance

 

Looks like we are selling another bright youngster.
