The save on travel time is just an added convenience after all the above. Grimsby to Bradford and back 5 days is something most would try to avoid if all the other boxes were ticked.

 

Nobody argued it was right or wrong - that's all opinion fella. What I did say is the Club clearly has a strategy when releasing news. Its basic marketing to drip feed, engage with customers/fans on social media. Shooting their load with a flurry of news and then radio silence for a week isn't good practise.

I will take the clubs marketing manager and current CEO's expertise over anything you or Park have to offer. They run the clubs communication for a reason, which is why you and Park are just commentators on here.

Added to which, if the club is aware that all 3 are leaving, then holding that information back whilst STs are on sale isn't nefarious, its common sense and good PR.

We still have much to do in terms of recruitment, but I think its been a decent start and our business should be judged at the end of the window, not in early June.

Second to that, I create content, run campaigns, and create day to day communications for a decent sized national firm. I am well versed in social media and the tools that accompany it - scheduling software, SEO, lead generation, CRM, analytics etc. You picked the wrong fella to argue this with.

So, you will fully understand then that signing a player isn't the marketing drive now its a commercial one. Understand about social media and off site marketing if that's what you claim to be an expert in.

Like @Faithful Bantam says that the transfer window isn't judged in June and any football fan will know that. So you either want a season ticket or you don't. That simple!

Long gone the days of just signing players to get season ticket sales to increase. We have moved away from that along time ago.

 

Again, you simply cannot comprehend. We were talking about news flow, consumer engagement and the obvious strategy behind it....the vast majority on here can see it. You can't.

And its a very simple outlook to suggest that you either want a ticket or you don't. There are casual football fans and local football fans in general who will need convincing...3,000 haven't renewed, that's a big chunk of income to aim at.

Yeah but signing a player from league 1 that they have hardly heard of won't do that. In fact we could sign a championship player and it won't.

Those that haven't brought yet might later. Those that have no intentions of buying won't. I brought mine two days ago but was always going to and I had intentions too. None of the signings or resigning's had any influence on my decision.

Times are hard for some. The economy is in a mess. Interest rates went up(wrongly in my mind), bills gone up - sorry for some Bradford City season ticket renewal isn't important and they have heard all of Sparks BS before.

 

In the main - I don't disagree with that!!! But the club are trying - and that is their job. To maximise income to give us the best chance of success.

We have completed and announced 10 deals and we are in early June......to suggest that hasn't had an inlfuence on season ticket sales is ludicrous. Like you say, economy a mess, folk are skint and Bradford isn't a priority - plus about the BS the have heard before.

All that considered, if we hadn't made one single announcement on a contract or a new player, think we would be at 10,000 season tickets? I certainly don't.

All very true, but my point still stands that he could develop his game better, and potentially earn more in two years time, by being coached by Mark Hughes than he could by being coached by Mark Kennedy who has amassed 15 games as a head coach.

He was playing in league 1 for Burton, it didn't work, if he does go to Lincoln, I hope it isn't a move he makes and then he's moving on again in a year's time. I'd be all in favour if he was at a team now like Carlisle, or Crawley. However Lincoln are on a downward trajectory, we are on an upwards one. As above, no guarantees their new manager is going to be a success.

 

Maybe. But then again playing at a higher level, with better team mates, against better quality opponents will only benefit him too.

Visiting grounds like Sheff Wed, Charlton, Derby etc is obviously a pull as well. Beats going to Carlisle, Northampton and other sheds like Harrogate and Barrow.

 

How on earth are we on an upwards trajectory? Where is your proof in that statement?

And where are the guarantees Hughes will be a success?

 

Exactly.
A few slightly better performances at the end of the season compared with the shitshow of the last few seasons is a big stretch to “an upwards trajectory”
