And if any of those “quality signings” get injured? The likes of FCD, Shanks, Sikora aren’t good enough to carry us

 

Don’t think they helped with their social media claiming they would announce signing(s) once certain numbers of STs had been sold

 

But @Jack Daniels - neighbour, don't you think that these young ones might just become "good enough"? Obviously no guarantees but FCD, Scales (Shanks was released), Sikora and Staunton seemed to do pretty well, maybe well enough to engender optimism. It will be interesting to see how Adams uses the young lads.

Sorry, I meant Scales, not Shanks. But I’d argue that Staunton did well and FCD did ok playing out of position. But if we are hanging our hats on the likes of Scales, FCD & Sikora, we are in deep doo doo. They “may” become good enough, but if they don’t, with such a small squad, we could be in real trouble with a few injuries.

 

Injuries you say? No chance, never happens to us.

 

Shanks isnt even with us and Sikora is our 5th choice CB.

The point im making is a couple of Anthony O'Connors or one Andrew Davies.....

 

Well don't forget the promise shown by young Reece Staunton..he must just about back to full fitness and under Adams will probably improve even more.

 

So Sparks said if we hit 7,000 we would announce a signing by Saturday which happened. I would suggest that Cook was a done deal and we were just waiting to announce.

have they said what other figures will trigger an announcement?

 

Adams has said he is expecting this to be a busy week. I don't think there will be any more 'you have to buy more before we announce more' tweets.

 

Id have absolutely no issue going into the season signing a number 1 centre back (a big upgrade on AOC) with Paudie, Canavan and Staunton fighting it out to partner him.

As for Finn, he did ok in spells at RB. He is young, developing, a year older....get a first choice RB and have him as cover is also fine by me. Sutton is another who can cover there if needs must. Rather sign two CMs than two right backs.

Or maybe it was all agreed in Adams 'absence' and he simply needed to sign off on it - or we needed to make it look like that lol

 

I will be very very surprised if they are even announced in pairs. Singles spread over a number of days, irrespective of when they “ signed”, keeps the momentum going?

 

I think it's likely that announcements of signings willl be made as part of the season ticket promotion drive. Sparks' tweeted that there was a big surge in ST sales following the DA unveiling and I'm sure that the announcement of a new centre forward just before a sunny weekend will have been timed to nudge a few more people to pop down to the ticket office rather than been rushed out 5 minutes after he'd put pen to paper.

I think people are becoming too fixated on the "eight signings" figure, if we sign eight players and then he sees another player that he thinks could improve the squad he'll make nine signings, I doubt eight is set in stone.

 

I dont disagree but i wouldnt be surprised if it is 8. Thats what he thinks he needs.
