Summer 2021 Transfers

Personally for me if we sign 2/3 known quality players along with a couple of as yet unknown gems then I will be happy. Not sure about Novak but I can't see Andy Cook being here next season, unless he loses some of that gut he has on him (I can see what the Mansfield fans were on about when they said the Bradford chippies would be happy). Imagine how much more mobile he would be.

 

Good test for Turnbull this summer.

 

In my post didnt say 'unknown' is a problem, but the balance between a few 'lower cost' options and the quality players we need is the likely option this summer. I coach in the various levels below the EFL so might know about some of them a bit more than most

 

He didn't compare the situation to bloody Morecambe. He used Morecambe (and Newport) as examples of clubs with very small budgets but we're still up there in the mix. Although not in the top three budgets ours would be bigger than those two clubs. Probably much bigger.
It's all about getting the best out of whatever our budget is.
There is no way he was comparing us with Morecambe on either playing budget or expectations.

Kurtis Guthrie looked slim and mobile, problem was that he just wasn't very good.

Andy Cook has always been that shape and has done very well in this division previously.

5 goals in 11 games is a great return considering he's sharing game time with Rowe. I bet in terms of minutes per goal he's been hugely impressive so far.

It's a definite yes from me, I think if we sign him and he plays the majority of games he's getting around 20 goals no problem.


EDIT - Just tried to use a stat site and got 703 minutes so if it's correct that's less that 8 full games and 5 goals. Superb return imo.

 

If Wood leave I suspect Staunton will be the repalcement with back up brought in, not Foulds

Agreed and I hope we keep him, hard worker and a physical presence up top and can score with head or foot. At league 2 level I can’t see that many better. If he gets decent service in a decent team he’ll score 20 no problem.

 

Agree. I think that's where he'll end up. He hasn't really got the physique or the height for a centre back, though there's time for him to bulk up a bit.

 

Sorry Belvoir but I would say any keen follower of Lg 1 and Lg 2 football would know about all of those players at the time. That's why Parkie et al were ahead of so many other clubs in getting them signed.

Salford have been in L2 for two seasons - backed by a billionaire and a number of ex Man Utd millionaire players who financially and because of their ego and prominence, will not allow this project to fail. Money will continue to pour into Salford no object, until they go up.

 

I'd swap Vernam for Sterling to be fair.

 

no one , with any common sense , would compare us with Salford. They have nothing in the football world other than a big bank account and owners with big ego's,
How long will the owners cotinue pooring in money if they fail to climb out of league 2 in the next few years.
They dont have the fan base to carry it without the chairmen and never will, too many big clubs around them.

I care because i am a football fan, Bradford city and England , my teams. When they play the least i expect is passion and a will to win games. I don't give two hoots what part of the country or the world they come from; as long as when that shirt gets pulled on, they play with pride passion and desire. you can not ask for anymore and those three things should be a given.
