Not sure what your point is, I'm saying there are very few managers at our level how have not had bad spell during their managerial careers, so that would include Stuart McCall, it would also include Phil Parkinson.
But as a general rule managerial positions are very hit and miss, looking at the Premier League alone since it's inception the following clubs have changed managers on a regular basis :
Aston Villa 11 Ron Atkinson, Brian Little, John Gregory, Graham Taylor, David O'Leary, Martin O'Neill, Gerard Houllier, Alex McLeish, Paul Lambert, Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde.

Crystal Palace 11 Steve Coppell, Alan Smith, Steve Coppell, Iain Dowie, Ian Holloway, Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock, Alan Pardew, Sam Allardyce, Frank de Boer, Roy Hodgson.

Sunderland 12 Peter Reid, Howard Wilkinson, Mick McCarthy, Roy Keane, Ricky Sbragia, Steve Bruce, Martin O'Neill, Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet, Dick Advocaat, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes.

Chelsea 13 Ian Porterfield, Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit, Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Carlo Ancelotti, Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte.

Spurs 13 Doug Livermore/Ray Clemence, Ossie Ardiles, Gerry Francis, Christian Gross, George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood, Mauricio Pochettino.

Newcastle 14 Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, Ruud Gullit, Sir Bobby Robson, Graeme Souness, Glenn Roeder, Sam Allardyce, Kevin Keegan, Joe Kinnear, Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew, Steve McClaren, Rafael Benitez.

Southampton 16 Ian Branfoot, Alan Ball, Dave Merrington, Graeme Souness, Dave Jones, Glenn Hoddle, Stuart Gray, Gordon Strachan, Paul Sturrock, Steve Wigley, Harry Redknapp, Nigel Adkins, Mauricio Pochettino, Ronald Koeman, Claude Puel, Mauricio Pellegrino

As a fan of a club that has ZERO identity, ZERO direction, ZERO long-term plan, ZERO passion, ZERO connection with it's fanbase, ZERO to feel upbeat about, and ZERO positions concrete for next season (aside from some crap players), may I just say...

    ARISE SIR STUART.

Return to the club, head directly upstairs, and take your seat as Director of Football!

Put some god damn Bradford City back into Bradford City!

You know it makes sense, Stefan!

There is a difference between having bad spells and never leaving a team in a better league position than when took over after 5 jobs.

Is it now 11 seasons as a mangers with no promotions and no big cup wins?

Its not just having bad spells, its having very few real managerial achievements.

Yes I know he got Mortherwell into the Europa League but that was helped by the demise of Rangers. He also got us to Wembley but that was on the shoulders of the already successful spine of the team that PP built. That's it though.

We’re on the brink of going down, and pathetically at that. Yet where is he? I hope he leaves, though I realise it’s not that simple. His and Edin’s tenure has been a disaster, self enforced as well.

As for Stu, I would have him back one day, I have no problem with his record under the circumstances. Getting us to a PO final was hardly an underachievement, we’ve had so many worse managers over the yrs. as always, I wish him well whatever he does.

I've thought about Stuarts sacking many a time.
    Hmmmm ..............
I don't buy into the jealousy attitude, that often crops up. I think it was more business like, than that.
YES - ER had an ego, but not as great as his 'master plan' had.
Stuart has, and always will be revered as a Club legend - Adored by thousands of fans. However - Stuart didn't buy into ER's philosophy - and neither did the fans. Perhaps Rahic thought that by ousting McCall's influence, he could also get more fans onboard to his way of thinking ?

It wouldn't be the first time I've seen this in the work place, if true. ;)

It shouldn't be surprising that anyone is judging a manager after four matches but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. As you point out Bowyer has shown his quality at his previous clubs. He's not the messiah (as certain posters scoff we are claiming) but he's a decent, sound manager.

I don't know why people argue with Fordy. You know he's going to be knee jerk and negative with no sense of perspective.

You can almost guess what he's going to say before he says it.

I don't understand how we can have it both ways. We complain that Rupp wasn't involved enough and let Rahic steer the ship into the iceberg and then, when it suits the agenda, it is his fault, he put have been involved and he is equally responsible.

I firmly believe that Rupp is the money man. He let's those in charge get on with their job and doesn't interfere.

    With regard to managers. I

don't want Parky back, I DEFFINETLY don't want Stuart back. One got us success but left for pastures new and the other hasn't actually won anything in two stints with us and now has another failure in his locker at Scunthorpe.

    Time to move on.

I'm not entirely sure how anyone can say with any degree of certainty that Gary Bowyer is 100% the right man for the job based on what we've seen from him so far, but wouldn't touch McCall with a barge pole. that makes no sense.

There are no guarantees with any manager as we are seeing now.
Phil Parkinsons manageral record was not great but he came in and got enough points to keep us up, then got rid of the players he felt didnt fit his "player profile".
It would be interesting to know what Julian/Stefan offered Bowyer if he keeps us up ?.

I daresay Bowyer does indeed have a vision, and plan. What he (and the last 3 Managers) doesn't have, is a committed squad of players who will neither share or want to be a part of those.

If you have a toxic substance, you can drown it in as much water as you like. It won't cleanse it, just dilute it.
That is to say ........ So long as this 'core' of players remain at VP, the toxicity will be with us, no matter how many loan players you throw at it.

It's not vitriol to point out he that his record doesn't reflect a good manager. Great player, amazing guy. Not a successful manager. It happens.

You're way too sensitive when it comes to this.

    I respectfully disagree.

he shouldn't have been sacked, and the correct and sensible thing to do would be to rehire him for next season.

I can't disagree mate it was one massive handicap trying to manage/coach the players with Rahic sat on his shoulder watching every move.

There's no guarantee either way what would have happened. It's debatable whether an injury to Omar Daley torpedoed our season, I don't view it that was an incident which shouldn't have been recoverable from. He was hardly Nahki Wells. I'm sure all managers have injuries during the season to contend with.

Of course there are things that could have played out differently, that's speculation though, the cold hard facts of his career show that he shouldn't be given any more consideration than any other run of the mill lower league manager with no achievements.
