I said it when he was sacked, and I'll say it now. If this wasn't Stuart and we was looking at any other managers record the same as Stuart's, NO ONE would be calling for us to sign him. This is all sentimental. It's time to go for proven records, not sentiment.

Of course it's sentiment, some feel he was done the dirty on, we can debate that all day long Rahic sacked him and no matter who has taken the reigns they have not been able to stop the good ship Titanic hitting the iceberg.
Yes lets look for a manager with a proven record, unfortunately every manager who might drop to league two has had bad periods in their managerial career, it goes with the job.

There are not many managers who have been given five attempt at getting it right.

Not sure what your point is, I'm saying there are very few managers at our level how have not had bad spell during their managerial careers, so that would include Stuart McCall, it would also include Phil Parkinson.
But as a general rule managerial positions are very hit and miss, looking at the Premier League alone since it's inception the following clubs have changed managers on a regular basis :
Aston Villa 11 Ron Atkinson, Brian Little, John Gregory, Graham Taylor, David O'Leary, Martin O'Neill, Gerard Houllier, Alex McLeish, Paul Lambert, Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde.

Crystal Palace 11 Steve Coppell, Alan Smith, Steve Coppell, Iain Dowie, Ian Holloway, Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock, Alan Pardew, Sam Allardyce, Frank de Boer, Roy Hodgson.

Sunderland 12 Peter Reid, Howard Wilkinson, Mick McCarthy, Roy Keane, Ricky Sbragia, Steve Bruce, Martin O'Neill, Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet, Dick Advocaat, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes.

Chelsea 13 Ian Porterfield, Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit, Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Carlo Ancelotti, Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte.

Spurs 13 Doug Livermore/Ray Clemence, Ossie Ardiles, Gerry Francis, Christian Gross, George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood, Mauricio Pochettino.

Newcastle 14 Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, Ruud Gullit, Sir Bobby Robson, Graeme Souness, Glenn Roeder, Sam Allardyce, Kevin Keegan, Joe Kinnear, Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew, Steve McClaren, Rafael Benitez.

Southampton 16 Ian Branfoot, Alan Ball, Dave Merrington, Graeme Souness, Dave Jones, Glenn Hoddle, Stuart Gray, Gordon Strachan, Paul Sturrock, Steve Wigley, Harry Redknapp, Nigel Adkins, Mauricio Pochettino, Ronald Koeman, Claude Puel, Mauricio Pellegrino

That ship has sailed. Sadly. Gutted for him it didn’t work out at Scunny, he got so close to the dream of taking us up, a dream for him and fans alike. Why he would even consider returning and working under the current owner, I’ve no idea. He’d probably be better focussing on helping the current scottish national set up. Owes us nothing, maybe one day he’ll return in some capacity or other, at least whatever happens we know he really gives a shit about the club and its supporters. Not sure there are many we can say that about, these days.

mccall for another spell? not for me. how many times do we go back to something that hasn’t worked. or do we just employ him until it does work? what if that takes 5-10 years or longer? do we just keep going with him, some fans would see him an un-sackable no matter what happened if he returned again.

hopefully we can keep bowyer as he has a track record of knowing what is needed to get out of league two. mccall doesn’t. sentiment isn’t needed right now.

parkinson won’t come back. he’ll feel that after the last 6-7 years he deserves a shot at a club that is settled and not a clusterf*ck behind the scenes and who could blaim him for that. the same may be said for bowyer too after what he’s worked with at blackburn, blackpool and now at city.

however, if bowyer wants to stay he has to be given the chance to get it right with a squad of his making.

As a fan of a club that has ZERO identity, ZERO direction, ZERO long-term plan, ZERO passion, ZERO connection with it's fanbase, ZERO to feel upbeat about, and ZERO positions concrete for next season (aside from some crap players), may I just say...

    ARISE SIR STUART.

Return to the club, head directly upstairs, and take your seat as Director of Football!

Put some god damn Bradford City back into Bradford City!

You know it makes sense, Stefan!

Who knows if Stefan will still be at the club at the end of this season or start of the next, it's an interesting one.
He's not a football man, I accept not all football clubs are owned by football fanatic's but it helps if they have more than a financial interest IMO,
Stefan will have sat down and punched some figures of what he's already invested and what the future might cost him with no guarantees of success, would he be happy to cut and run ?.

There is a difference between having bad spells and never leaving a team in a better league position than when took over after 5 jobs.

Is it now 11 seasons as a mangers with no promotions and no big cup wins?

Its not just having bad spells, its having very few real managerial achievements.

Yes I know he got Mortherwell into the Europa League but that was helped by the demise of Rangers. He also got us to Wembley but that was on the shoulders of the already successful spine of the team that PP built. That's it though.

We’re on the brink of going down, and pathetically at that. Yet where is he? I hope he leaves, though I realise it’s not that simple. His and Edin’s tenure has been a disaster, self enforced as well.

As for Stu, I would have him back one day, I have no problem with his record under the circumstances. Getting us to a PO final was hardly an underachievement, we’ve had so many worse managers over the yrs. as always, I wish him well whatever he does.

No I don't have a problem with @Park bantam@Park bantam he'll usually reply's (not agreeing) but that's what the forums all about, mostly banter mate but I wonder if the situation came to a choice between say Bowyer, McCall, and Steve Evans who they'd prefer ;).

It’s like the Keith Hill show at Rochdale....

Never in a million years will or should he come back. With Stuart back at the club he’ll always be bigger than any owner or anyone else for that matter.

Let’s remember what’s left of his reputation and look forward not back.

There are plenty of examples above that suggest football clubs don't always think logically.
Small margins I'd say in his last spell at Valley Parade, Clarke missing the best chance of the game one on one with Archer, and the following season not getting any sort of support from the chairmen, and still having us in the top 6 when Rachic showed him the door.

I'd rather have a club that thought logically rather than emotionally.

Yep. Fine margins. Always on the wrong side of them though.

Top 6 but there were about 3 teams behind us who all had 2 or 3 games in hand. Detail, detail though I suppose. You are factually correct.

Still not the point though. Never left a club in a better position, no amazing cup wins, no honours, no achievements.

Pretty poor return for an 11 year managerial career.
