The key to any team going up is goals scored. A shame we didn't get Stockton from Morecambe, he scored another top level goal yesterday and its that sort of class finishing we desperately lack. The line up we went with yesterday will not get us promoted, there's not enough goals across the team. Shut down the Cook/es and we look pretty devoid as an attacking threat, Vernam is showing good form but again doesn't offer enough goal threat.

Spot on. A decision (along with Ward & Carbone waiving payments in Admin 2) that ultimately saved us from liquidation. We should be thanking Gibb (or at least the pension fund) not castigating him/ them for putting in badly needed money when we could easily have ended up liquidated.

A lot of people still don’t understand that in any successful business you need; drive, ambition and passion for what you’re doing. Just because Rupp keeps us ticking over doesn’t make him a competent owner. He has non of the traits listed and that’s why I don’t believe we’ll see success until he’s gone. Tbf to Rahic he did have those things he was just a nob and useless, someone with his passion for football and desire to see positive change who isn’t a fraud would go far with this club. Sadly no takers.

Lets look at this a second.

    1. they had a deal in principle which means he had no problem with the background of the new investors.
    2. Simon Parker and the luddites that follow him smeared the idea in the local press
    3. Rupp then decides he wants to pull out for the sake of the club

It seems like hes more bothered about his long term reputation than he is the success of the club. Pressured by the negative sentiment of those who misunderstand blockchain technologies.

This is a very bad day for the club. We had a chance to not just climb the leagues but be an interesting club that attracts people to it. We need to act as a collective to try nudge him out.

Last week we drew 2 - 2 at home to Sutton Utd. Just let that settle in

As it looks like the matter of takeover is closed its now over to Stefan and what the clubs plans are in January. He used the words proud custodian, I am now expecting a full tilt at the transfer market to strengthen the obvious weaknesses from said custodian.
Our squad could look very different come January 31st.

He didn't seem to mind early in the season when we put a couple of results together. At that time it was almost hourly updates of everything he was getting right at the club.

Interesting to note that now times are tougher he's putting out fewer statements than Stefan Rupp?

I did say at the time that @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler reminded me of Sparks by running and hiding once his belly stopped getting tickled. It actually seems like there's truth in it.

Amazing that after one league defeat it’s all gloom again and Rupp must sell or we’re even more doomed. Everyone- well nearly everyone- was happy how the club was progressing a week ago, now we’re creating division with sponsors,(not true) and supporters - even though we’ve already sold 15,500 tickets for Saturday. The reason for all this misery? We signed a player on deadline day that people don’t like. The best we would get as a new owner would be another local consortium and do people really think they would fund the club any better? Remember the first five years of Lawn and Rhodes. It was only the cup runs of Parkinson that bailed them out.

Ok, apart from Salford which other clubs in this league are routinely funded by their owner ? Football is a business and should be run within its means. Expecting the owner to fund shortfalls every year isn't realistic.

For an outlay of £5 million it would have to be in Rupps interests financially to buy it. And that would mean calculations based on a long term return. Rupp isn't going to be here long term. Thats the whole reason Gibb bought it in the first place, it was gilt edged long term investment guaranteed to be in profit after so many years as long as Bradford remained a football league club, which barring a miracle they will. In any sense, with Bradford being a permanent tenant potentially for decades, why on earth would Gibb want to sell what was a brilliant piece of business all those years ago?

No. The negotiations on the sale of VP (and the office block and shop) were certainly held during a difficult period. A secured creditor from Admin 1 who was owed millions, hadn't been paid and was threatening to foreclose on the loan through the courts. That would probably have been the end of the club.

Fortunately, there were a number of offers on the table to buy VP and lease it back to the club over a long period. The offer from the pension fund was the best one from the club's perspective and agreed by JR and the Prof on the recommendation of Sean Harvey, the club's then CEO. Gibb wasn't involved in the decision since he was conflicted as a beneficiary and trustee of the PF.

It's easy to conclude nearly 20 years later that we got a poor deal. But the club was on its back at the time, had just avoided liquidation by the skin of its teeth and needed cash urgently. It was in danger of disappearing. Any buyer of the ground would have that risk to bear - a financially insecure tenant in a very specialised asset with no viable alternative use which could so easily become a very expensive white elephant for its new owners.

A fan base that thinks more than £200 for an ST is expensive, don't want to pay more that £3 for a beer etc :)

Yes he has. The vast majority of the time under his tenure, the club has been a basket case. We've been systemically rotten for 5 years. 8 managers in the last 3 years, heads of recruitment in and out, players leaving within months of arriving, our reputation within the game has been shot for a while.

Did that not get paid back when Swansea had Sheffield United’s pants down for McBurnie and we got £3m or whatever in a sell on fee?

You’re right, he’s here and he can do as he pleases.

Why would you own a business that you have no interest in and, if things completely outside your control happen (relegation to the NL) will cost the business hundreds of thousands a year?

He’s not getting his money back until the club is back at the top of L1 or better. A relatively small investment would improve the chances of that happening. He’s probably got the right manager and CEO in place, both of them need backing.

Not withstanding that Rahic happened on his watch, which is unforgivable, I don't think since Rupp took control and appointed Sparks, he could have done much more to mend bridges.

    1. Fan base on its way back up
    2. Great commercial team and good relationships forged with local businesses
    3. Saw the club through covid with little or no increase in debt
    4. Improvements being made to the stadium

Yes, Rupp owned the club when Rahic went mental with his toy, but from what has been said he never had any plans for day to day involvement and (mistakenly) trusted Rahic to do that.

I can't see how we can blame Rupp for all the problems caused by Rahic when clearly there was a massive cover up going on to ensure Rupp didnt know the truth.

Give him time to repair the ills and he could turn out to be a good owner. Lets face it, under the chuckles we were only kept quiet by the results that Parkinson brought in. Without him both chuckle brothers would have been run out of town years before.
