I bang on about him all the time and I know there’s a phrase careful what you wish for but he really is an abysmal owner. Surely with the fan base we have, similar to Portsmouth for example we can look at going for some kind of fan ownership/consortium ?

 

No chance mate I’m afraid, we don’t have the same level of hardcore element that would do something like that. And many of our fans will just blame the manager and players and think an owner means nothing which just isn’t true. You only have to look on here people talking about we were 4th division when they started going and we have no divine right to be higher etc. Some just accept the situation in a way it optimises the city itself, never really wanting to better itself, grow and improve. It’ll never change certain not for decades.

 

And that is true, but if you have another solution to guaranteeing getting us out of this division were all ears, I expect that sort of comments from Fordy I give you more credit than that.

 

You’re correct the acceptance is killing us between fans we must expect more!! Maybe it’s because the city itself is done for and there is a natural ‘defeatist’ mentality.

 

Don't usually disagree with you Wilsden, but your comment, presumably aimed at my generation, that we started watching City in the 4th and have the mindset of not having the right to be higher, is so untrue of anyone I know. We all want to get out of this awful league and personally, we should be aiming for establishing ourselves in the Championship.

 

Last time I looked it was still mid September. Let's see where we are in February before melting down

A fan base that thinks more than £200 for an ST is expensive, don't want to pay more that £3 for a beer etc

 

I haven’t looked at Portsmouth current ownership but is it a few very rich people owning the majority with fans owning a small percentage?

 

Just looked and they are owned by Michael D. Eisner’s Tornante Company since 2017.

 

We’ll have to agree to disagree idle then it’s not aimed at anyone individual but I can’t help who people think it’s aimed at, we can find many comments of the ilk on here I’m talking about though it’s not the reason we’re in this league now but it’s a mentality among quite a large section of the fan base and a reason we aren’t like a Blackpool, Charlton, Coventry, Newcastle and Pompey as many just accept it’s where we were in the past so accept it now.

Mine are that he either needs to sell or invest as it is clear that Adams needs backing. I think the former is the correct decision.

Or there could be initial interest but not at the price Rupp wants for the club, I can't see any interest at the moment.

 

Don’t often post on here but read stuff from time to time. But this is getting boring now. What do people expect from getting a new owner, and what makes people think Rupp has done adams dirty in terms of budget? Not sure where any of this comes from. I’d say, on paper, we’ve got a squad that should be going up. They’re under performing and that’s on Adams, the man by the way who prides himself on performing with a low budget. That being said I’m by no means ‘Adams Out’, he needs time and maybe a couple of players and I can see us kicking on in this league, which I could never see happening with the the likes of bowyer. Throwing money at a team doesn’t guarantee success, and we’re not in a position to be making that gamble. Look what happened last time we did that, instant relegation. And look at Salford who spent money and put together a decent team. They’re below us.

 

All we have got from Rupp is a few new plastic seats which have been paid for by sponsors, he’s a shocking owner and we are just accepting mediocrity!

 

How do you mean "were accepting mediocracy" as fans we support the club by purchasing a season ticket once again this season a fantastic effort given Covid etc we buy merchandise shirts leasure wear food and drink, what's you suggesting we do to not accept mediocracy, stay away not buy anything the club sell.
I along with several hundred will be attending the Scunthorpe game in the hope that this is the game we turn our season around, is that accepting mediocracy, I'm not having a pop but I would like to know as a Bradford City fan what I should do to change the direction of our club without staying away, and staying away guarentees nothing.

I don’t expect a new owner to piss money away. In recruiting Adams, Stefan has got a good manager and he’s been backed with a forward line of Cook, Angol, Lavery and Robinson. I don’t think that’s a whole lot better than Novak, Guthrie, Donaldson and Samuels a year ago. Who signed them is anyone’s guess but I assume Turnbull’s departure is a hint.

So I expect a new owner to take an interest in the success of the club more than from a financial aspect and to understand that s/he is merely a custodian of the club for future generations. Their aim should be to leave the club in a better place than they found it and preferably without losing too much money. I expect investment in infrastructure as Andy Holt is doing at Accrington. I’d like an owner who isn’t here to waste money like Mel Morris at Derby, but also one who provides a budget that doesn’t limit us to cast offs from other clubs. Rupp arrived with a goal of developing players and selling for a profit. What happened to that? Charlie Wyke left three years ago. We’ve relied on cast offs and non league standard players since.

I like a lot of what Sparks is doing and I think Adams is the right manager. I’d like an owner who has a clear and realistic aim for the club. A clear and realistic aim that isn’t just raising season ticket prices, selling more shirts, sponsorship and 1903 club membership and not really strengthening the playing squad whilst saying failure to get promoted is failure.

I don’t think that’s a lot to ask for.
