i’d hope it would be quite simple to know what a code of conduct is for.. for example, say someone uses their logo as their profile image on message boards or social media, but under that logo abuses players, members of staff or other fans, a code of conduct would go some way to letting people know what is and isn’t acceptable under said banner of the group.

unfortunately, some people actually do need what is acceptable spelling out to them.

i’m sure the organisers of the protest group wouldn’t want anyone using their logo to undermine the groups position and possibly bring negative press on it.

it’s quite easy to imagine a scenario where someone downloads the groups image, uses it on their profile and sends inappropriate posts to the club, staff or players. then when someone asks for the clubs position on said group they pull out a list of message sent and says the group is a number of fans that are abusive in their message or takes those messages to the press. which will have a negative effect on the groups aims and objectives and people won’t take them seriously.

look at what has happened at sheffield united lately, a fan banned from attending home or away due to a long list of abusive and vindictive messages sent to players and officials.

if they are going to do it and have a group that wants to be taken seriously by the club and the press then these are things that need to be in place and let people know what they do and do not stand for.

Agreed, and, if he hadn't been given sufficient authority he certainly would not have taken up this role, he doesn't need the stress any more. I know Julian very well and I know he is incapable of just standing by and watching when he has so much to offer. I know he will take no prisoners and will work his socks off to try get the club back on track, we just have to trust him and back him all the way.. He has a huge task on his hands and I'm certain that, if anyone can, Julian can..
The ER situation has to be put aside for now ..

 

Here's the thing I support the club not the owners I will go to games but if I want to voice my concerns against Edin and Co at games I certainly will. If others want to boycott games that's down to them and it's their opinion I don't have a problem either way.

 

not at all, but whatever comes of it will reflect on all fans and as we know, bad news gets more press than good.

if something is to be done, i think we can all agree that there is a correct and proper way to do it. being as professional and organised as possible will do much to support your cause. unless you think a code of conduct for fans is a bad thing?

 

There is no reason why the terms of reference agreed by both parties cannot be shared - surely - otherwise how can we see if the consultancy has been a success or not.
