And can we all just agree watching Leeds collapse quicker than the England batting line up and marching on to the championship is a joy to watch.

We prefer to travel by train if possible. As well as the Frankfurt trip to see friends, returning via Cologne, we have also been to Bruges and Paris. However our best European train trip was to Strasbourg Rome, Bari and Lecce, returning via Bologna, Milan, Turin and Paris. Took 3 weeks with a week walking in Puglia thrown in. I won't drone on about our train holidays in Japan, India, Burma, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Spain, but you get the drift. We like train travel.

    Everywhere!

Venice is out of this world. Unlike anywhere I've ever been. Try not to go in the summer months when it's rammed. But even then, once you move away from St Marks Square and the Rialto bridge, where all the day trippers congregate, it soon thins out and you can just wander through all the small backways and canals. It's magical.

Rome is astonishing. Everywhere you look is ancient history. I've only been for a couple of days but would love to go back for longer.

Tuscany is beautiful countryside. Sienna and Florence are outstanding cities.

The coastal areas of Amalfi and the Cinque Terra in Perugia are lovely.

    Sicily is great too.

Etc etc. There are too many fantastic places to mention. Not just the big city destinations but hundreds of small towns that are beautiful, ancient and packed with charm.

And the food is to die for. It's so much better than the limited range you get in most Italian restaurants in Britain, which tend to focus on pizzas and the same boring range of pasta dishes. The food in Italy is incredibly regionally varied. Move an hour up the road and the predominant diet changes from seafood, to rabbit and game casseroles, to pasta, to rice-based dishes etc etc.

It's hard to go wrong in Italy.

Decided to have a bit of me time and book a couple of days in Brussels for the final weekend of the Premier league season (hopefully a Leeds relegation!) and a bit of touristy stuff, coupled with wheat beer and chocolate.

Never done eurostar and reet looking forward to it.

Hi guys - I’m on a road trip to Como in 2 weeks in the Motorhome. We are doing Hull - Rotterdam.- then over the Swiss Alps.
After reading this thread I’m even more excited for it.
I’ve only been once to Italy before and that was Venice on a cruise. Im hoping it’s as good as everyone makes out..

With Premiership, Playoffs, FA Cup and CL final, there’s still football to watch until the end of May. Pre-season starts end of June and if we’re as ambitious as Sparks and Hughes are making out, the pre-season games could be well worth a watch.

So only a month or so of no real football to speak of. To be fair, my wife’s a patient one when it comes to the amount of time I’m either working or watching football, so I’ll use the month to pay my penance, do some DIY or be dragged round shops or whatever. Probably. Maybe.

I love the long form of cricket but equally love the 20/20 stuff. 4s and 6s all over the shop, what's not to like?

Its great if you like that sort of thing…..if not it’s just a train.
We went a few years ago. A long walk from the station but do NOT miss the old town and square. Food, keep it simple…A huge plateful of mussels in creamy white wine sauce and a bowl of chips is a must. European towns and Cities are on a different planet to comparable Towns and Cities of the UK. Enjoy!

The ex Russian Eastern Europe Countries are lovely, but for political reasons and until things change we won’t be going back anytime soon. Budapest Parliament building and Castle is gobsmacking..to name but one. We could all go on, but until COVID’s ugly face is still about , we won’t be flying anytime soon, sadly.

Afternoon walks with the new baby (Albert), preferably a sunny beer garden en route. Also I’m opening a new bar up in June, so will be nice and busy. It’s a bit different over here, cos the time difference makes it 5pm kick off, which means I’ve generally got time to do daytime/afternoon stuff, and still watch the game.

Here on the East Coast we are the most modern of sports supporters, so I will be on Hornsea Prom heckling the crown green bowls players and trolling them mercilessly online.
