We took a bit of a gamble but she is wonderful, we bonded quickly, we were made for each other...

I think the wife wants a young “ rescue” lab, but I think she’s going to be unlucky. At the end of the day I expect we will get one from the same breeder…….ouch!

What did you mean by a gamble, I know you said she was young….owned by someone previously?

Well, over the years we have never gone to look at a pup and come home empty handed, and we've always struck gold.. losing our last lab some 18 months ago really really hurt, so we were without for 14 months before I started looking around, we didn't fancy starting with a 10 week old one this time and found this one which was 1 of 3 pups left unsold from a litter of 8, was a bit rushed when we went down to Leicester for her and didn't have time for niceties and bundled her in the car and brought her home, we bonded instantly and now we are inseparable...

Decided to have a bit of me time and book a couple of days in Brussels for the final weekend of the Premier league season (hopefully a Leeds relegation!) and a bit of touristy stuff, coupled with wheat beer and chocolate.

Never done eurostar and reet looking forward to it.

We've done Eurostar a few times and have never had a problem.
We went to Frankfurt via Brussels a few years back and the German ICE train broke down on the way back. As we had a Deutsche Bahn ticket we were put on the next connecting Eurostar in 1st class with no problems.
Recommend the website seat61.com for advice on anything to do with continental rail travel.

Its great if you like that sort of thing…..if not it’s just a train.
We went a few years ago. A long walk from the station but do NOT miss the old town and square. Food, keep it simple…A huge plateful of mussels in creamy white wine sauce and a bowl of chips is a must. European towns and Cities are on a different planet to comparable Towns and Cities of the UK. Enjoy!

We went on the Italian TGV ‘s first class ( cheap as chips) when we went to the Italian GP and Milan. Absolutely outstanding!

We prefer to travel by train if possible. As well as the Frankfurt trip to see friends, returning via Cologne, we have also been to Bruges and Paris. However our best European train trip was to Strasbourg Rome, Bari and Lecce, returning via Bologna, Milan, Turin and Paris. Took 3 weeks with a week walking in Puglia thrown in. I won't drone on about our train holidays in Japan, India, Burma, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Spain, but you get the drift. We like train travel.

    Muscles.... No thanks young man...

I do enjoy the trains, particularly those that take in the beautiful countryside. Can't beat a journey up through The Dales on the way to Carlisle for the races (York this Friday!!!)

Staying close to the old town, about 5 minutes from the Grand Palace and Manneken Pis (I'm suspicious I'll be enthralled by a young lad taking a p**S)...

    Cheers

Italian trains are excellent and extremely well priced. First class is often a very similar price to standard. Trains are plentiful and reliable.

Slightly the opposite to driving in Italy! White knuckle ride between Florence and Sienna as the dual carriageway seems very narrow. Try driving in Palermo, now that is blood sport!

Thats a good point, when I go to Europe I find the towns and cities so much more enjoyable than over here.

Never been but my lad has. Said it felt dirty. Favourite of the last year or so is a place called Potsdam just outside Berlin. Stunningly beautiful city, looking to go again next year.
