He was a big fan of speedway at odsal and was always positive in his hopes to see speedway back there in future.

Alpe D’Huez again for the Tour de France. First time they’ve been up it in 4 years. Will take our city flag again for Dutch corner.

Completely agree. Travelled round Italy a few times. Flew to Nice cheaply and caught the train along the med coastline through Turin down to Rapallo. Portfino is Milan on holiday in the summer we were told. It’s amazing. Cinque Terre on the coastline. The towns cut into the cliffs. Down to Lucca. Amazing walled city. Close to Firenze and Pisa for days out. Roma is fabulous and the city itself isn’t huge to get around. And there are the lakes which are fab too. Favourite European country by far.

Hi guys - I’m on a road trip to Como in 2 weeks in the Motorhome. We are doing Hull - Rotterdam.- then over the Swiss Alps.
After reading this thread I’m even more excited for it.
I’ve only been once to Italy before and that was Venice on a cruise. Im hoping it’s as good as everyone makes out..

Lucca is lovely. Terrific food too.
Cinque Terra is great, but busy. We did a fantastic high level cliff walk there though, which is every bit as good as the Path of the Gods at Amalfi.

Further west from Cinque Terra, towards Genoa, is Camogli - home of fantastic foccacia, studied with olives or tomatoes. Has a lovely harbour and some cracking eateries. A really good base for walking too. Near to Portafino. Well worth a visit.

The City walls around Lucca are extensive, comparable to York but larger. They are more Renaissance style than Medieval. Lucca is one that is underplayed on the tourist scene(well it is in the UK) and worth visiting. In easy distance of Pisa. I found the city itself disappointing but the leaning Tower and Cathedral are worth the visit.

Not my genre of music mate, but looking at a video I see they performed at the Holmfirth Picturedrome that's some venue I thought it would have been condemned by not, saw Showaddywaddy there several times and the building was still standing.

Ravello was a favourite destination of ours for a good few years. The walking around there is amazing...hard on the knees though!

The view from Ravello is fantastic.
We once walked back to Amalfi from Ravello. I have never been down so many steps in my life! Our knees were like jelly by the time we got down to sea level.

Ravello down to Minori is even worse. We often walked down to Amalfi although spent more time in Atrani just next door, avoided the cruise ship tossers....mainly obnoxious yanks

I think we walked down into Atrani and then along the coast to Amalfi. We stayed in a hotel outside Amalfi, on the Positano side, so avoided the cruise ship crowds.

All those snickets in Atrani are amazing, it's like a maze. How they built around there is unbelievable...imagine Persimmon giving that a go

Not sure, but it is worth the visit for sure. You can back it up with Pisa on the same day.

Very very sensibly we parked outside the City walls and walked. Donkeys can sometimes struggle to negotiate the bends!;)
Joking aside Plaza del Anfiteatro, where it was shot is really worth a relaxed visit for a drink or a meal.
