Those lists usually refer to players who will or won’t be offered contracts in the summer.

We're also not in the Championship or the Premier League where a player could quite possibly sit in the reserves for a year and be financially secure for life. Players in the lower divisions have to maximise what they can earn.

As I've already stated; sitting on their backsides when the manager has deemed them surplus to requirements would almost certainly impinge upon what they could earn once their contract at Bradford City expired. As well as negatively reflect on just what sort of character they are. No manager would be willing to offer someone who sat on their contract for a year without playing another decent salary, what's to say they wouldn't do the same again? They've also not played competitively for a year, I expect managers are like most prospective employers in that they like to see that you've been doing the job.

'Player Power' is undoubtedly alive and kicking where absolute fortunes are being earned. But I don't think that's the case at Bradford City's level. It's too small an industry, everyone knows everyone else's business, get yourself a reputation as a 'bad egg' and people will be wary of signing you.

It probably depends on the conversation that the manager has with whichever player. If he leaves the player in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want him at the club any longer. Then I wouldn't expect the vast majority of players to hang around hoping to change the manager's mind. Especially when a team's performed so poorly that they've been relegated. I doubt that there will be much pussyfooting around. He knows that if he's to hold on to his job there needs to be wholesale changes at the club.

I think it's different when the season is still running, games are being played and injuries and suspensions occur. The manager probably has to be more diplomatic and try and keep players onside in case they're needed. Unless a player does something unconscionable, then most managers probably try to keep every available player in the squad onside. Especially at City's level where squads are far from unfathomable.

Of the Squad still contracted for next season, i Would do the following when considering funds that will be available (19 Man squad, maybe a few more for numbers): -

Goal keepers: - Keep as we are.

    O’Donnell
    Sykes-Kenworthy
    Wilson
    Defense: - Release 2, bring in 3
    Riley
    A O’Connor
    Mellor
    Wood
    Midfield: - Release 1, Bring in 2
    Reeves
    Akpan
    Wright
Wings: - Release 1, Bring in 1 (Assuming Robinson is available)
    Robinson
    Gibson
    Scannell
    Strikers: - Release 1, Bring in 2
    Doyle
    McCartan
    Patrick

Some are on a decent sum of money for league 1 standards. Think the Pulse said Doyle was on around 5k plus a week.

Think you're having wishful thinking. If Doyle for example is on 5k -7k a week and he's contracted then why would he go somewhere else considering no other club will give him that?

You do realise that if Doyle were to go somewhere else then we would more than likely have to pay part of his wages to make up to what he's on now as he won't leave for a wage drop. Would you?

Also if a contracted player is told he isn't in the managers players then Bradford City haven't proved that the owner will back the manager with funds. Mr Rupp hasn't proved anything to anyone as yet so of again I will use Doyle. If Doyle is told to leave then he knows he will at least be on the bench next season as we are highly unlikely to splash 100-500k on another forward. Yes we might being in 1 or 2 but we won't bring in 3 or 4 what we need as Doyle will know that the club will have to pay his wages.

The contracted players are in control. What Bowyer says to them is irrelevant. Some will leave but to think all will of 50% of them will is unrealistic. The agents of these players are laughing!

Throughout this last campaign, backbone as individuals, has not materialised. The backbone of the team was equally never strong enough. I would like us to address the frailty re the spine of the team this Summer, by building strong from the back for starters.Perhaps the taller the better.

..Wouldn't you have thought that dropping a division would affect pay structures? Originally they were contracted in good faith to to go up a Division..not down. For me there should have been inbuilt incentives that rewarded success and penalties for failure, as is our position now. Surely can't continue with the same wage structure when we have been relegated by those employees who failed to deliver.

Minus 25% because of relegation according to Simon Parker

    Totally agree with your comments

Whilst it’s not uncommon for a player to stick around when surplus to requirements I think the venomous Ill feeling aimed at some of them on the lap of embarrassment will have helped make up theirs minds.

You're right that it seems unlikely another club would offer Doyle 5k a week, but I bet there would be at least one or two that would offer him 3k. If the 25% relegation wage reduction that's been mooted is correct, Doyle's wage (if he stayed) would drop to £3750 a week. If City paid off the difference (£750 x 52) it would cost us 39k but free up 156k which could be used to pay the wages of two decent league 2 players. I just don't think it would cost as much as you think to get rid of him.

Strange how some people don’t believe a word the Simon Parker says all season and then suddenly his word is gospel that the players are getting 25% cut

GB has downloaded the best line from In the Line of Duty last night, and will keep it running in the background when he talks to the players. ‘Stop making a tit of yourself and piss off’ ;)

    Like we believe them also.

25% what for all players? Doubt that very much.
