Smoke Bombs - Who in their right minds would glorify this?

Anyone summarise this boring guff for me?

 

The thing for me is that it isn't a one off. It has been happening for a couple of years. Got caught up in the smoke at Bury away last year. One was set off behind us and my youngest struggled to breathe through it so we had to move to the front until it dispersed. Irresponsible morons in my mind!!

Have you googled No Pyro, No Party as an aside? It's quite clear that our schooligans are copying other clubs like Birmingham and Bristol as they come up stronger on the search....so we're not original again.

Did you do the press release @wetherbywhaler? Good statement.

 

'Original' is never going to be a criticism these kids get levelled at them.

But then, it's not an original idea in the first place. The UK just has a collection of clubs copying what they see on Youtube. Another fad, very cringeworthy.

 

I did do the original but some of my stronger phrases were toned down by our media guy at VP. Much else is original.

Let me clear my position for those who can't understand, or those who wilfully misunderstand for internet likes.

I don't think pyros are acceptable. Nor do I think those who choose to use them should have the book thrown at them...I'm quite an empathetic person by nature, so I am quite capable of understanding how smoke at a football ground might affect a City fan mentally, one person came forward and told me so in this thread... But clearly, the kids using pyros can't see any consequences for their actions. They think they're creating an intimidating atmosphere and having a good time, and in some respects, probably are. But they obviously don't think they're causing much harm.

I think a word in an ear for those caught, and maybe a ban till the end of the season will be more than enough. Then maybe they'll grow up and stop acting like doylums.

But, in all honesty, I find this social media hand wringing pathetic, from people who have presumably lived saintly lives, and never done anything remotely stupid in their past. Of course.

 

Since when has it been acceptable to set off a smoke bomb in a 'bistro' type pub with diners (families, friends etc) having a nice peaceful meal celebrating Christmas well away from Sunderland town centre? They think they're 'hard' because they do it and they will get a reputation on social media for doing it and don't give a shit about anybody else possibly getting hurt.

Fireworks - fireworks can't be thrown etc but there have been incidents in the press over the last 2 years of gangs in Girlington firing them at cars, buses and basically barricading the Round Thorn pub by firing fireworks at the doors!! Police have sought to trace these people and prosecute them.

Any difference? Not in my eyes.

 

You’re setting the scene as though it was packed full of kids and elderly wearing paper Christmas hats, pulling crackers, having their Christmas dinner with Jonah Lewie playing in the background when a mob of firework yielding yobs storm the gaff and unleash hell.

Let’s not take it out of context.

There was nobody in the pub apart from city fans. It was completely dead when the coaches arrived. Also, there were several bouncers/security already inside, and on both the doors, who basically stood there and let it all unfold without even attempting to stop what was going on. Not doing their job it could be suggested. It took one of the older city fans to call time on the chaos and shove everyone out.

Of course it’s not acceptable to do what they did no matter who is in the pub, and they should be dealt with accordingly especially when the club is facing persecution from the EFL for continued similar events.

However, if were going to discuss it let’s not exaggerate or take the incident out of context.

 

I agree with some of your post but having worked on the doors and in roles with public safety its nigh on impossible to deal with a large number of dickheads when you are outnumbered, especially when beered up and lairey.
