This thread has gone off on an almighty tangent!!!!!

 

Back on topic, I used to live literally down the road from the Salford City ground. We were in the Premier League at the time.

I do find it incredible we will be playing league football there next season.

Although it is all but in Manchester, access to the ground isn't great by public transport and it is quite a walk from the nearest team stop. The local pubs there are not particularly friendly either. The areas of Broughton and Kersal nearby are not the best, although Prestwich nearby has some good pubs.

 

Shouldn't this be in general?

I will be. Eldest is at Manchester Uni so good chance to meet up, have lunch and go to the game, only a train ride away!!

 

Just reinforces how utterly depressing it is we've suffered a completely avoidable relegation.

Salford was a project years in the making. I'd take their level of management and vision over their wealth. Committed owners with a clear vision. That's what we need imo.

How can Salford pay such wages? Dont financial fair play rules apply to them ?

With such a small fan base I thought they wouldn't be able to afford £4000 per week wages. With a billionaire heading up the club, I suppose he can sponsor them quite handsomely, similar to the way the owners of Man City do.

 

There will be ways around it I imagine, such as like you say a hefty sponsorship deal from a company run by the owner will cover the costs on players etc.

 

Man City tried that as did PSG both punished by UEFA

 

Not sure what impact the punishment had though. Should have made them have Chicksen and NKP in defence for three games.

5 years ago Salford City couldn't get 200 people and a dog through the gates ! 6 years ago we took nigh on 40000 to the National League Cup Final !!! How the hell did it happen that the two clubs will meet on level terms ? and the ones with 200 fans be in with any sort of earthly chance ? ...I saw the lesser spotted JR yesterday who introduced us to a megalomaniac German called Edin Rahic and his estranged mate Stefan Rupp that's why !

 

It was about 5 years ago and they are checking the current levels of sponsorship again to make sure they are not fiddling
