That must have been annoying. However, the safe standing wouldn't mean you can't sit down, it provides an alternative for those that wish to stand, in a certain part of the stadium. The rest can choose a seated area as usual. The only possible conflict would be where the safe standing was located if it ever came to fruition, it may mean seats are lost from one area. I guess that's why some hace suggested the TL Dallas lower tier etc.

Why have the safe standing that can convert into seats? Just have terracing?

The depth of the steps at Celtic had to be adjusted to fit the safe standing seats/barrier and allow enough game for people of all sizes to stand before the next barrier.

Imagine in the lower Sunwin having a barrier above each seat and the same behind you. Then try and stand, especially if you need an XXXL shirt. It would be very tight

That is the real point. It is not just ‘ripping’ out the seats, but the cost of taking out all the concrete. The height of the rows would have to be increased as well as the depth.. I would guess that probably 3 or 4 less rows in the Lower Kop. The JCT (Sunwin/Main Stand) already has far too little space and if you are over 5’6” there is a good possibility that your legs are rammed into the seat in front of you.

I guess the only way to know for sure is for the club to commission a feasibility study.
The lower kop was originally modern 'safe' terracing. I'm not sure if their were any modifications to the steps when seats were added in 1999 (the top tier was a new build structure).
Maybe they could trial safe standing in one block/ section and conduct any risk assessments. The TL Dallas stand would seem logical as no-one would be displaced

I believe, and certainly could be wrong... It's due to certain European competitions demanding that you have an 'all-seater' stadium.

Tall people blocking the view of shorter people is also an issue in seated venues (if that is what you were getting at)

Yep, that is the reason. But the PL and Championship have the same rules. So we could spend the money putting in safe standing and then get promoted and everyone still has to sit down.

The old floor of the Kop was ripped out and relayed at a totally different angle. There were pictures on C&B that clearly showed this from during the building work

I don't really see a reason for anybody to be against it. Don't want to use it - use the seating areas. I believe it would improve the already very good support, question is where would it go. All of K Block? Norman corner?

I can not see it being upstairs in the Kop as it is too steep. Same for the NW Corner, and upper TL

Is the lower TL big enough?

What about end block of the Midland Road by the TL?

If it was in the kop it would probably have to be top tier. M block as that is a smallish area anyway and wouldn't impinge anybody's view who was seated.

I was just trying gauge how this could impact on you. I guess if you are over 5’10” then you would probably not be affected by the introduction of standing at VP, if however you are below that height and you have someone over 6’0” then you will struggle to see.

It is the ability to empathise with those who would struggle to see that is important. I remember before VP became an all seater, that as a kid, I struggled to see.

Surely it's better to keep those who prefer to stand in designated areas.
I would think family groups would prefer to remain in the seated areas and wouldn't really expect them to choose to stand.
The the point is 'safe standing' is really catering to more partisan/ vocal fans who prefer to stand and are less concerned about view/ sight-lines

Shouldn’t affect you anyway. From the sounds of your posts, you don’t get to many games and when you do, you must have some of those ‘arseholes’ standing in front of you.

I know where you are coming from, but Valley Parade as it currently is, could not be adapted to accommodate a standing area without significant costs and a reduction in capacity.

There would be fewer ‘spaces’ given the area required for the wider/taller rows.

    Do people really want that?

Now if the choice were between moving to a new state of the art stadium, with ‘Safe standing’ or remaining at VP, with the current arrangements, which would you choose?
