I think the ships sailed for the terracing of old to be brought back ..
However, I'm not too fussed either way.
The days of my bouncing up and down to 'knees up Mother brown' are long gone.
Its more ' try get up from sitting down' these days when we actually score !!

The other benefit of having designated standing areas is that those who choose to sit can do without their view being obstructed.
I remember last season's play off final and the scuffles breaking out between our groups of our own fans because some wanted to stand.BoingBoing and Pineapple Salesman like this. -

If a solution could be found that was financially acceptable and a suitable location, then I don't see what the real issue is. It's is annoying when folk stand and don't give a toss about others. In an ideal world they would learn something called consideration of others. But seems many are grown men, there appears little hope of that happening any time soon. But if a designated area is created let them all go there as an alternative solution. As @Storck alluded to, I agree that it could be part or completely financed by the ticket price in that area for a given length of time until it is paid off, i wouldn't have a massive issue with that. I don't stand at games and block peoples view, but if a safe standing area was provided on match days i think that is where i would choose to go if i didn't have my kids with me.
However, we could probably do with sorting the pitch out first. -
I don't really see a reason for anybody to be against it. Don't want to use it - use the seating areas. I believe it would improve the already very good support, question is where would it go. All of K Block? Norman corner?

I would think family groups would prefer to remain in the seated areas and wouldn't really expect them to choose to stand.
The the point is 'safe standing' is really catering to more partisan/ vocal fans who prefer to stand and are less concerned about view/ sight-linesPineapple Salesman and Bronco like this. -

100% back this campaign. As someone who practically loses their voice every game chanting, singing, etc. The atmosphere is an integral part of the game for me and there is no doubt that the atmosphere is improved 10-fold when there is a large number standing throughout the game and singing - Charlton & Blackburn away are prime examples.

The club is officially backing the EFL's 'stand up for choice' campaign.
Shows that the club is seriously considering safe standing, legislation permittingPineapple Salesman and bantamlad92 like this.
