Agree with this and I still have some slight sympathy with Bowyer (i.e. the Doyle farce). Crawley was exactly the right game to use three at the back

It has to be - not least because our only chance is playing four of Connolly, Cooke, Devitt, Ismail (when fit), Middleton, Reeves (who is going to be needed, like it or not as there are no other remotely defensive players) or Prichard

Middleton or Prichard, Cooke, Devitt and Connolly have to start on Saturday. Very attacking - none of these can be classed as anything remotely defensive, but has to be done

 

Wait, what? Bowyer wasn't involved in transfers? Then who was then - Rhodes? Wow, I thought they would have learnt last time what happens when the manager has no say in who is coming into the club to play for his team? Unreal!

 

It's not impossible we'll win two on the trot. If we don't then for me, it's an issue. But if we do, suddenly the squad could have a whole new attitude and kick on

50/50 for me for this to occur, perhaps less

Someone alluded that they thought Bowyer knew nothing about the players - but I find that hard to believe.

In fairness, I think the club genuinely tried for Agard etc - but as my article pointed out getting 'good' (whatever that means) strikers down to L2 in this window had proven impossible for everyone. Swindon have merely continued where they finished off at the start of the window

 

Sympathy? He showed over the 4 games we had him back that he is clueless when it comes to setting up a team to play to the strengths of the country's leading goal scorer. He deserves no sympathy whatsoever.

 

No the player showed a bad attitude and the fact he cant adapt as he has shown before in his career

 

The annoying thing is that we could win the next two homes and keep Bowyer in a job but it would merely paper over the cracks.

His big psychological block is away from home where our performances have been diabolical. We could beat Grimsby and Stevenage but lose to Cambridge with another insipid display, and we'll still not have solved the problem for our dire away form - Bowyer.

The Cup Magic night being on last night might have saved Bowyer his job as the club were unlikely to sack him with that taking place. I presume he was present?

We have to start winning away matches again. It simply isn't acceptable to just write them off and scrape the odd draw here and there. Show some ambition and positivity like your Swindons, Exeters and Plymouths do. Have a bleeding go.

And stop playing Taylor. He was garbage at Brighouse and has offered absolutely nothing since he arrived permanently.

 

Was mentioning this in the other thread. How poor is it? Doesn't even look like a professional outfit. I haven't played for 3/4 years and could easily just join in and not look out of place. The players look to not be enjoying it and the coaching is non existent. A change is needed in my opinion.

 

What I find it hard to believe, is that Doyles attitude for not wanting to play for us, started on his return. I would have thought, seeing as GB said he was on the phone to him every day, that maybe there was a slight inkling that he didn't want to come back, and it would have been better to sell him to Swindon a few weeks ago, rather than leave it to the last minute, which meant we picked up some panic purchases on window day, who weren't signed in time for them to even play.

 

Having read your posts on the other thread, what I don't understand is if WE are seeing this in the training sessions... why isn't Bowyer?! It just makes no sense.

Doyle understandably didn't want to come back and I was never in favour of us bringing him back, but came back he did and regardless of the things Doyle has said (which are incredibly unprofessional), I thought he put the effort in when he was on the pitch. It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest that the problem was his inability to adapt rather than our manager's inability to play to his strengths. The lad had scored 23 in 22 games, I know which one of them got it wrong and it wasn't Doyle.

 

top post. And its not just doyle and this is why its not a case of a bad apple.

Not for 1 moment im I saying Gary cant get a tune out of the players. I just think the players dont want to play them tunes.

 

doyle spoke to swindon press on how he did not want to come back weeks before the window opened im sure.
