And if he uses short sentences, all the better still. :)
We fans don't need an half hour speech to deliver 1 minute of poor news.

I'd be amazed if McCall's budget wasn't £3million. Do the maths. We have a (at one point this season) a 43 man squad. I know some younger players will be on peanuts but £1341 per week average for a player budget, including appearance money, win bonuses, play off bonuses. Not a chance. Vince alone will have taken up at least 5% of that budget. Add Wyke, Law, Doyle, McMahon, Killgallon, NKP. Not one of these will be on less than £3k a week before bonuses. That's over a third of your £3million budget gone before transfer fees and bonuses. If we are talking about last year then add in Clarke/ Meredith/ Cullen/ Marshall/ McArdle.

12 players on £3k a week. McCall will have been on £3k a week.

I can't say exactly what £75/100 thousands buys but I wouldnt have though the full monty could be done for that figure, we'll know in another 2/3 weeks or so because they will require large plant to do it.

I've heard similar .......... but only for 'repairs' (minimum cost !). I understand the relaying of the pitch is additional to that. So potentially, £200k, dependant on the scale of the damage found.

From what I heard they are doing half this year and half next year due to not being able to start straight away in case we were in play offs.

I'm not 100 % sure funds is an issue.

The issue, for me, was the failure to recruit a squad with an depth.

We've got 40 + players on our books, and at least four positions with virtually no depth.

We know how it's happened; we saw Rory McArdle leave in, what, May, and the Aussie lad came in in late January!

Look at the wings... thankfully Robinson came through, because our options are so limited it's untrue.

Totally agree. It's one of the reasons a lot of supporters are getting hot under the collar and feel they have been mislead.
If we are a club that has to be run purely on business income without that bit extra we were expecting from the owners then say so.
The main worry for me is lower season ticket sales, pitch expenses = lower budget = more chance of a poor season = lower ticket sales and on it goes.
I know you can counteract this to a degree with very good recruitment, the right manager, team spirit etc but competitive budget plays a very major part.
At the risk of sounding like a worn out record the owners should back whoever the manager is next season and back off and let him run the the playing side as he sees fit. They owe us that to make up for the severe mistakes / poor judgement of this season. We are led to believe Stefan can afford this easily, he could even do a Lawnee type loan.

I'd be interested in a breakdown of how easily budgets can be overcome.

Shrewsbury have gone from relegation candidates to auto chasers - presumably not on a massive budget - but how much of their squad have they retained? Have they built on a fundamental core of players? If so, it suggests that core needed TIME to start achieving success.

If our budget is low next season, we need our core more than ever.

Unless there is unexpectedly good news from Rupp on the budget front I really don't understand the appointment of Grayson.

Did the board seriously expect Simon to accept working on a very tight budget next season. Did they actually have a meaningful conversation before he joined?

Considering that is was their decision to sack McCall, this all increasing looks like a badly or hardly thought through decision to bring Grayson on board and what picture was painted to Grayson to entice him here?

I hope I'm well wide of the mark but again this episode does not reflect well on the club and how it is being run.

Yes it is possible to achieve promotion on a mid table budget but please don't tell the fans we are going for it (promotion) on that basis.

Surely this can be renegotiated, now ?
A family member works for the contracted Company, and although 'busy' they are not pushed, or stretched.

Edin will be staying is what I've heard but there are going to be massive changes at the club within the next few weeks.

Oh, and I was right about the home kit that everyone said was too scottish.

So is my case of £200k correct ? Half a job equates to half the price, thus just £100K ?
I hope not ......... How can you repair 'half a drain' ??

The appointment of Grayson was based on his record. It was 'hoped' he could reverse our fortunes. However - it soon became apparent, that SG had to work with the same leftovers that SMc had. Same crap tools = same results.

We just have to hope our owners have deep pockets then, £3m player budget, £100k for pitch and the traiing facilitates revamped, I have no doubt Stefan has that kind of money just not sure he will spend it on their investment.

Totally agree Ricc. Last summer I was saying similar after we lost Meredith etc. If they would have come out and said this is the budget, our aim this season is top 10, stick with us, see what happens and we'll build on our finish then of course there would be moaners but I think a higher % of fans would have been fine with that. Some would say they are lacking ambition and drive but least they are being honest and saying it as it is with a set budget. Plus they can then say with a small increase in season tickets we can increase the budget to £Xm as well as sorting the pitch. Tiny steps.

Just a small point. When Rahic and Rupp bought City, it was before Brexit. Subsequently the pound has dropped in value by about 19%. As such given that the club outgoings are I guess in sterling, then without any increase in the input of Euro's into the club, there could be extra money available, given the favourable currency arrangements, from a German perspective.

It looks like this article shows how a 'wealthy owner' can fund a club (as seen in Fleetwood and Scunthorpe's case).

"However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Manchester City and Leicester for example seem set for punishment for their excessive losses (from UEFA and the Championship respectively) despite the fact that the owners have injected hard cash into the club to finance the spending". http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php

Surely this is an opportunity to increase funds, without seriously affecting Stefan's Euro millions?
