I think we saw Wood play his last game at Valley Parade in a city shirt yesterday. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mal Benning from Mansfield rock up as his replacement.

 

The keeper situation is a difficult one. Hornby will get a deal as a first choice in league 2 no problem, he ain't a bench keeper. And at 24 has less miles on the clock than O'Donnell and will be on less money. Sparks has a dilemma, i think he'd like to keep Hornby as he would be cheaper but offloading ROD will be a problem.

You might be right but if we offer a deal on same or slightly better money we are entitled to compo due to age I believe.

 

We're cutting budgets. Hornby would now command a first teamers salary and O'Donnell ain't gonna want to sit on the bench and neither is Hornby. Can't see us tying up what little budget we have on two keepers.

Don't shoot the messenger, only repeating what Sparks has been saying that the big earners are going and that the wage bill will be trimmed. Any players offered new contracts, other than youth players, i would expect to be on reduced terms. They'd have to offer Wood a better deal to get the compo on a transfer and Hornby would command a better deal but the likes of AOC will have to look elsewhere if they want better money. Gotta pay for that new paint on the office walls somehow.

 

Let ROD know he will be second choice sat on the bench but he is free to find a replacement club. Hopefully he will leave to get football

I wouldn’t keep him, even on reduced terms. He’s been here 3 years and never shown any real consistency.

 

Yeah he's been pretty consistent throughout the season. He's also the better defender of the two O'connors.

 

If he goes who can ROD point at and berate after kicking the post when another shit goal goes in.

 

I don't like the negative passing just to keep possession either but if you think about it a lot of the time it's due to our lack of movement off the ball, unlike a lot the teams we play against. Yes Clarke has probably had his day but we've got the same problem with young Elliot Watt. In a well coached side he would look a lot better, something we will probably find out when he moves to Hull City or whoever has been watching him.
