Credit for having a go at trying to have a look at the data, however non of it is relevant to the keepers as actual men between the sticks.
Data can , as you know, be made to favour any argument, however I will take one as an example shots at goal per keeper. . Sadly it provides nothing to assuage the debate. Shots on goal could be variable, depending on our opposition, weather and the tactics played by the opposition, which could be changed two or three times per game. Not one of those variables are dictated by our keeper. So shots at our goal are of little use when trying to decide the potential merits of a keeper.

Let’s say that within the limitations of our season just gone, it is as clear as the nose on our faces that RoD hardly ever came off his line, that alone, irrespective of how good the opposition were, meant they just had to pump balls on the edge of our 6 yard box at every single opportunity. Teams at the bottom of the division sussed it! .We saw it from his first game back until he was finally dropped. All the stats in the world cannot hide the fact that such a tactic by the keeper puts your own defence under the severest , yet completely unnecessary pressure throughput a game. It’s potential self harm !

Again I am not knocking you, rather the stats, which in this case whilst interesting , don’t necessarily support what we can all see with our own eyes.

Bloody hell people still harping on about our keepers they’re both mediocre like the rest of the squad, imo we should have released Hornby and gone for a new number 1 but it is what it is they’ll be worse keepers in the league next season than our two. Both rarely make genuine howlers like the Mansfield keeper did against us, that’s about as good as it gets at this level or they don’t stay about long. Scott Brown would have been decent who kept Hornby out of the Port Vale team.

Nope just pointing out regardless of what you may think we didn’t end where we did down to one player.

I don’t care what anyone thinks about what I think, I’m entitled to my opinion, just like you.

Where have you seen me write anything suggesting we finished in the position we did solely because of our keeper(s)
A contributory factor........of course, but the sole reason ....No

Agree that Fuzzy has come up with a lot of useful stats here, but like you Kevin, I think there's a lot more dimensions to this. One not mentioned - who have our defence felt most comfortable with behind them? Clearly Hornby. We always look more organised in defence with him in goal. Whether or not he's the future, only time will tell.
