It's about 64 games usually isn't it? Once you've added in the play offs, a decent run in the check-a-trade and all the games to get to the League Cup final.

 

Think you're missing the point Storck (and others), players on contract don't need to be seen to tell them they are on contract, they know. You don't start a new season with contracted players who have already been told they don't figure, that is the worst thing to do. That is where the Agents come in with conversations like "Do you really want to play in L2", the answer in some cases will probably be a 'No' and wheels go in motion for a move. Non of that is Gary's job otherwise it becomes demotivating and possibly constructive dismissal. Got to play it cool

 

Mellor, Wood, O’Donnell - keep
Doyle, Scannell, Akpan, Wright, Riley etc, move on if possible.

If we can shift that lot, we’ll free up a lot of the wage budget.

Those contracted to the end of the season - Caddis and sign Ball if possible.

 

Please tell me caddis is one of them! Really do think he is a quality player. His attitude off the ball alone stands out to me. Managing to keep him might be a struggle though, can’t help but think he’s too good for league 2.

 

I tend to agree. Our shopping list needs to include 2 proper centre backs, left back, left winger, 2 Centre mids and at least 1 striker.

Sort the spine and the left hand side. We need more pace and strength throughout the team.

 

This lack of reserve team is ridiculous. Total vicious circle. Not good enough to get in the first team? - prove yourself in the reserves via competitive game time. Young up and coming player?`- prove yourself in the reserves via competitive game time. As I mentioned in a prev post, I just can't understand what Riley is actually doing. He hasn't featured on the bench for God knows how long, so how does he improve and push for a place if he's not playing. As all pro's will tell you, training matches are one thing, but nothing compares to playing in a real match and gaining real experience and match fitness that way. I have visions of Patrick and him just lounging around playing Fortnite on a Saturday. At least Patrick went out on loan. If Riley wasn't part of DH's plan, then why on earth wasn't he sent out to a lower league club to gain experience. Unless of course he refused. I remember when we tried to sign him a few seasons ago, and he refused to come because he wanted to push for a first team spot at Utd. Laughable at best, deluded at worst.

 

I have faith in the manager and I'm fully backing him to do a good job, but why should I show any faith in the two players mentioned? Nothing all season from them. AOC part of one of the worst defences in history and can't do the basics right, why should I have any faith that he will all of a sudden remember the basics?

He had a broken bone in his back for God’s sake ,unless you’ve had the same and know how much pains involved and how long it takes to recover then I’d cut him some slack. He may go throughout next season without any injuries who knows , but one things for sure he’ll be way to good for that league and he’ll be on our side.

Probably. So you would think he would have learnt his lesson. Tony McMahon did it to us as well.

As a club we need to grow a pair and if the offer is turned down just walk away rather than messing around hoping they come back.

I have no desire to ‘prove myself’. If I inferred where I’d heard this, it’d be dismissed anyway. We’ve been here before - two years (or more) ago, a number of people started to reveal Rahic’s antics.....’where’s your proof’ cried the more obstinate bunch on here.

It’s an opinion forum, not a court of law. I’m not a huge Doyle fan. I think his wage could be put to better use, but in League 2, with the right partner and a couple of wingers who can cross the ball he could be an asset. So I’m not fussed either way. But I’ve been told by someone I know and trust, who’s in a position to know and who’s been reliable in the past, that he has an offer on the table from a league 1 club and intends to take it. Time will tell.

 

Surely he would need to let them know if they aren't in his plans?

 

Think that's where players Agents come in.
