    Just a snippet I was told by a close friend yesterday, GB has indicated there are only between 4 and 6 players he wants to retain for next season and plans are well underway re discussions in relation to this. Please note this is not the same as saying how many we will actually retain as obviously shifting the ones still under contract depends on their attitude to leaving and whether there is someone out there who will take them.
    But at least it shows GB is his own man and has seen enough already to know how sh£?$ this lot of individuals are as a team. My hope is we all stick behind him in the remaining matches and beyond because it looks like his opinion is the same as ours!

    Personally can't wait to see the back of this lot. They will be the most quickly forgotten City squad in recent memory.

    I was going to try and speculate who they might be but agree its not easy! I have an inclin that Connor Wood is one and possibly Mellor but even that is pure guesswork.

    On a related issue I would guess Paudie did himself no harm on Saturday and based on his previous involvement at Blackpool under GB, for those who were at Saturdays game would you welcome him back next season as one of our new CB pairing? (I know he will probably feature a bit more before the season is out so we will be able to make a bit more of an informed judgement)

    Bowyer last season had a 14 player turn around, so he definitely doesn't hold back. He has experience of this, I was abit 'bored with this appointment, initially, but it's growing on me. He says the right stuff, but can he transfer those feelings to the players, all be it next year, who, no doubt, he will have a lot of homework on.

    My guess would be: O'Donnell, Mellor, Wood, Akpan, Scannell, Doyle.

    Now whether they want to stay or not is a different question.

    Id expect all of the above to stay due to the fact I can't see anyone wanting to pay for them. The problem we have is with wages. Those 6 alone won't be cheap. We need to make sure recruitment is spot on given we will be dropping into league 2 and so the belt has to be tightened.

    Mellor, Wood, O’Donnell - keep
    Doyle, Scannell, Akpan, Wright, Riley etc, move on if possible.

    If we can shift that lot, we’ll free up a lot of the wage budget.

    Those contracted to the end of the season - Caddis and sign Ball if possible.

    Please tell me caddis is one of them! Really do think he is a quality player. His attitude off the ball alone stands out to me. Managing to keep him might be a struggle though, can’t help but think he’s too good for league 2.

    He is out of contract so it’s not a matter of retaining him it’s about whether he will sign a new contract. I think he is better than league 2
