Nope, you & RT missed my point, it's the interiors, B&B makes the other two very 80/90's. Does it matter? Yep, that's why Rajpoot, Adaab & The Shama at Shipley are quiet whilst the Shimla is rammed.

I'm old and set in my ways. Decor means the sum of feck all to me. I want good scran and plenty of it, although i draw the line at the old international toilets. Only thing that could wipe out a cockroach.

Saying that, the decor at Valley Parade pisses me off no end, reminds me of an old working mens club in the hospitality areas. Depends where i am i suppose.

I'll give you Rajpoot. The Shama is quiet because the food is shit....and priced accordingly. Adaab is tiny and would be rammed if a full taxi turned up. It relies on take away trade and does ok. I'd rather (within reason) spend my money on decent food primarily. No amount of impressive ambience makes up for poor food, but good food can allow me to overlook a poor lighting system...anyway you crack on with your anti Bradford stuff. We all know there's a gulf between us and Leeds but I can find plenty to enjoy within the BD post code without bothering with Leeds. All this knocking the city and the club...it's too easy. I never hear the knockers providing a solution, just continuing to lazily state the obvious.
I'll also agree with you about kebabeesh btw.

My first Bradford curry was at the Karachi on Neal Street.
Bit of a culture shock for a southerner, used to flock wallpaper, cloth napkins and knives & forks.
It's still my favourite for a quick, cheap and very tasty curry if going to Pictureville or the Alhambra.
I used to like the Shaheen, opposite the International. Best onion bhajis I've ever tasted. Long since shut down, sadly.

If you mean Shimla Spice at Shipley, it's rammed because the food and the service are consistently excellent. Not saying the nice decor doesn't help, but it's ultimately the food that counts.

Hold on let me get this straight. We can't be critical of something if we don't have a solution? Give your head a shake. If i want to have an opinion on something that is wrong i do not have to give you a remedy.

So what did you make of the Classic Person then, Idle?
Did it live up to the hype or did you share my view that it's overrated?

Used to love the international despite the place looking derelict for years. Don't think the food will improve just because they've done the place up.

Really? Apart from curries and pub grub, what is there? There are a few places in Shipley that are ok, but what else? I'd love to support decent Bradford restaurants but the city centre, curries aside, is a culinary desert.

I've been to the International several times over the years. Never thought it compared well to the Karachi. Same with the Kashmir. Karachi has always been the best of the cheap and basic curry houses for my money.

Never actually got there!. Person at work organising night out left it too late to book a table for the 11 of us going out. So, we ended up at MyLahore on Gt.Horton Rd. First visit there, and suitably impressed

MyLahore is an odd place. Always seems full of young Asian students eating burgers and suchlike. Mind you, I've only ever been at lunchtime.

Haha the Kashmir, we went before Christmas. You get a good feed but not sure what you get in terms of food. Point at the menu and see what arrives. Karachi is good i agree.

We went 7.30 in evening and there were plenty of Asian families dining. I had the Desi Chicken Karahi, which was very nice, big portion too.

Big fan of the MyLahore curry, especially as a takeaway/delivery option so it can be downed with a couple of beers at home.

Shimla, it's all about the interior, get real.

People (not all) get dressed up & go there, parties, family do's, special events etc etc. The food could be no better than the Adaab, Rajpoot or Shama and it'd still be rammed, that's because the diners are going for a meal out, an occasion, the other 3 cannot provide the ambience for that.

Same reason that Bibi's in Leeds is always busy and that's a place in a crap spot underneath a bleedin car park.

As I've said before l can't tell the difference between a good curry and an OK one.

Has it reopened or is it permanently closed?

I went past the Intetnational last week and there's a huge new sign saying "the wait is nearly over".

It also said "ultimate dining", which sounds v exciting...
