Shame Bristol Rovers got a point but otherwise tonights results are good for us. Please city let's have a monumental effort on Saturday to get the 3 points.

The Bristol Rovers result gives me hope going to Pompey. A few weeks ago, I would have assumed a home win but Portsmouth have laboured badly recently, not winning in the league since NYD beating Wimbledon 2-1 and not keeping a league clean sheet since December 8th. The manner in which they imploded after being 3 up at Southend on Saturday must have been a concern for Kenny Jackett.

BTW, if you haven't seen the Bristol Rovers penalty last night....

    https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/asfjoq/jonson_clarkeharris_bristol_rovers_awful_penalty/

As for Peterborough, only 2 wins in 8, so not exactly in super form. So all of a sudden, our next three of Walsall, Portsmouth and Peterborough give me much more hope.

You use our form and results in December to make your point but these are very selective stats to paint a particular picture, if you use the seasons form or just our most recent form in 2019 it tells a quite different story - sadly one good month so far this season WILL NOT keep us in League 1.
Results went our way last night but it is now time for DH and the boys to show their worth, our fate will eventually be determined on the merits of what Bradford City do and we need that to be better than 4 other teams. I honestly believe what happens this weekend will have a major factor in deciding our fate, we need to get some momentum back asap so that we determine our own fate

What are you talking about? That form is the last 8 games. Whether you like it or not it’s been midtable form.

Who has padded anything with decembers results?

Decembers form was almost promotion winning form.

Now it’s mid table form as seen by the table quoted.

It’s not all doom and gloom and end of the world as you would believe if you came and read on here from the over reaction of a fair few. We are a run of the mill side currently.

We need to beat Walsall, no arguments from me on that one

I would feel more happy with your argument if our form in the past 5 games was mid table form! We have only really scored any goals in 1 month this season (December) and it is essential we find a way to improve this, problem with our leaky defence and probs at centre back is everytime we go behind in a game there is not the confidence that we will claw it back as there might be if we were not so goal shy.
Glad we agree Walsall is a big, big match on Saturday

Walsall were the worst side I’ve seen at VP this season. I hope we go two up top and push O’Brien on to help Payne and ball the other side.

Let’s get a couple of goals in the lead and defend it, hitting them on the break and pressing them high.

Right. Time to dazzle, baffle, or bore with some stats!

I've started with the bottom half of the table as it currently stands, and for each side given the league position and current record, the position and record as it was 10 matches ago, and then the 10-game stats. The last column, projected points, is more from fantasyland than reality, but it shows the ways the sides have been trending. Over the last 10, Scunny has been on auto promotion pace, Bristol Rovers and Plymouth on playoff pace; Walsall, Rochdale, Shrewsbury, and Oxford have been on relegation pace, and thanks to those sides, the rest of us on a safety pace.

If only football were played on my spreadsheet, we could stop worrying now!

If he had used the December form to make his point our form would have been automatic promotion form as we topped the form table very briefly!

Think those stats would be great if they actually meant anything. Really think you ought to go out more.

Ha ha Chris Waddle eat your heart out!

True on pompey though pressure will really be on them to beat us, they are in bad form so could be a good time to play them.

“We’ve only lost three games since the start of January"

“Every team that comes up against now is having to work that bit harder to get anything from games."

“Most who have played us have either lost or drawn a game the following week because they’ve had to put that much effort into matching us. Then they suffer next game."

    :joy:**so funny

Its a mind boggling assessment. He says we have only lost 3 since the start of January, but fails to say that we've only won once since New Years Day. Hardly fantastic form by any stretch of imagination

Just read the piece and was going to comment on it but a couple of you beat me to it.

Jeez, I thought Jim Jefferies was deluded!! Good run of form!

He is putting a positive spin on a set of average/poor results, but we as fans are more sensitive to results given our position. We have been inconsistent in performance, and we need to play as we did in the second half last Saturday.
