Okay Lionel Hutz chill out, I'm theorising we should have come to a mutual agreement on his deal because someone with a 2 plus year injury is a drain on the club.

 

That deal would essentially be pay off his contract in full. He won't agree to anything less. Therefore as i care about the club we should try and get him back playing

 

we've been trying to get him back playing for 2 years. he had a flipping groin strain and has now been out for 2 years. that ship has sailed.

 

He'll only get the brush off from me.

So come on then Einstein, what fantastic deal could we offer him that would persuade him to accept less than seeing out the remainder of his contract? No one in his position would agree to anything less.
By far his best chance (if there is any) of resurrecting his career is to sit tight and hope to get fit enough to play a few games for us at the back end of the season. No other club is going to touch him with a barge pole unless he is playing again, so what possible motivation could he have to cut and run on any terms, never mind reduced terms?

 

All clubs take out insurance on players in case of a injury that will not recover and end a career, For this to happen the medical profession must agree that 1, The player has an injury that can be verified as genuine. 2, That in their opinion the injury is such that the player will not recover from this injury, 3, The injury stops the player from playing the game professionally,

The club has if it feels the conditions for claim have been met the option as above, If the club feels that these conditions are not met they can support the player hoping the player can fully recover before the contract runs out
