Exactly! He was a fans favourite last season but this season he’s probably been the worst performing player. He needed to sort his head out or leave.

 

I don't accept the 'playing in a higher league' guff.
Money is the only reason, plain and simple, good luck to him.
Hope he gets a good reception down here next season.

Caution, they could be contracted for a season long loan . If the parent club says keep him….we keep him, no matter the club. I’m sure that’s how some loan deals work.?

 

He might well have been stubborn in his approach and lacked good communication skills but the man has integrity.

 

26 year old half decent keeper from league 2 team moves to league 1 team for what is probably a considerable increase in his wage.

It really is as simple as that surely?

I enjoyed the video clip as I say never bad mouthed us with regards his playing and managing career it was only a couple of minutes he spoke with regards Bradford City.

 

True there could be players loaned for the season, but you'd think their parent club might have a quick phone call and say if said player isn't getting game time it would be better for both clubs and said player to go elsewhere.

 

That's correct. Unless we have an agreement written into the loan that we can send the play back then it's down to the parent club. With Tulloch he's 23 next week and out of contract at the end of the season at West Brom so unless they can sort out another move for him then why would West Brom recall him?

 

It’s done now no point going over and over it. City obviously felt the money was acceptable and maybe needed, it’s how it goes until someone with more ambition comes along we will have to accept that we have to make ends meet. If it’s £200k it won’t really get us far and maybe is just to balance the books but that would have been needed to be found at some point.

Worth noting we have had two bids for Lewis in his time here and he’s wanted to go with both, so he’s not exactly City through and through but nor should the lad be.

Personally I think it’ll be a downgrade especially longer term, but hopefully we won’t see a tangible difference.

Time to get behind the new lad. And whoever else comes in, imagine it won’t be anyone to get excited about this window and we will look to start again in the summer.

Lewis was a bit irritating towards the end with his juvenile "Up The Chickens" nonsense and is no great loss. The worry is agents, managers, CEO's will be taking the piss out of Ryan again and selling us deadwood.

 

Two reasons he left, for me;
1. Money - it was a better offer and he had more security, he probably asked about his option/extending, trying to get more money with us and we probably said 'no, we only look at contracts at x time'
2. The football/type of football - He was a Hughes signing, he wants to play with the ball and pass it around, GA doesn't want to do that, he wants a keeper who keeps the ball out of the net and kicks it up the field.

Players can probably put up with less money if the playing is enjoyable and they're winning. It's clear Harry hadn't been happy for much of the season and GA's style isn't his style so he decided to push for a move to get more money for his/his families security.

Not much more than that I'd say.

He absolutely cannot pass it around at the back but also his kicking is shite so maybe we have actually upgraded by getting Walker ?

 

Wouldn’t we have been better selling Lewis for more money to Barnsley in the summer?

Yes he did because it was too late to get anyone else. Maybe the Walker deal couldn’t be done in time.

 

It is indeed the only answer but it won't stop the bullshit, criticism and conspiracy theories being bandied about.
