Exactly. How can we hope to educate if we are going to ban people for life at the drop of a hat? Aren't we supposed to learn from our mistakes thus being able to educate others?

 

If i get caught speeding i don't get a life time ban for a first offence. I get a punishment and a chance to learn from that as to my future conduct on the road. By all means a punishment to fit a crime but lifetime bans? Not for me.

 

Comparing speeding to racist abuse is a pretty stupid comparison.

Like you I had no idea as I’m not a smoker, but I find it ridiculous we have a smoking point beyond the turnstiles. Places like Oldham and Barnsley who both have areas outside after the turnstiles don’t have smoking areas.

 

On the subject if guilty they should face a limited ban, and have to be educated on the matter.

Life time ban is the most stupid reasoning I’ve heard, that’s not going to stop them doing it to others in everyday life, but who knows with the correct education and guidance they might actually change their bigoted views. Crazy idea but maybe people at least deserve a chance to change?

I was out there and seen what happened,
There was 2 Asian lads washing a car and a little kid playing football.
At first it was light hearted, singing things like wash your car wash your car .
Bit then they started singing things at the little kid who must have been about 9 then singing Tommy Robinson and edl and started throwing bottles at them over the fence they were laughing at first but then came out and videod it on their phone .
I reported it to a steward, felt sorry for the little kid.
Didn't see any abuse to anyone inside though.

 

Good argument and I said earlier that a racist will be a racist in all aspects of their life, not just at football but the lifetime ban is clearly designed to be a deterrent to try to stop idiots in the first place.
Just like getting a driving ban for drink/drug driving.
In the main it works but there are always those who think they are above the law.

 

Utter bollocks. When I was young, I went down that rabbit hole of hating anyone who was a different to me, voting BNP etc. Then I grew up, matured and learnt some lessons, now I’d say I’m opposite of what I was aged 19/20...If I can change my views, anyone can.

 

Calm down dear. I never said people can't change pal. I said those that "allegedly" chanted racist abuse will also hold those views outside of of the football arena in their day to day life. Which in true.

I was born in 92 and have just turned 27 myself and you could be talking for me with these words, and probably most people.

I don’t know the culprits ages, but most people do actually change through age and education is the best way to inform and change a bigoted view. Obviously they need some kind of punishment, but to exclude someone for life from an event they have interest in and enjoy will not help improve behaviour in later life.

I’ve learnt more in 9 years after sixth form than I did in all those years from being at school, because I matured, became less stubborn and wanted to improve myself. Everyone has that capability, it’s finding out what makes them tick first.

 

Its a tough one. On one hand you dont wanna throw the book at teenagers when they ca still be educated, but on the other in my daily life im seeing things like this more and more and im sick to death of it. I had an argument with an asian guy using the n word on friday night in bradford and witnessed a homeless guy getting abused today and these arent isolated things i see this stuff a lot. So essentially I want to see more organisations and people making a stand and saying no this isnt on, its not right to say that and feck off if you think it is, sick of society pandering to racists and intolerant people.
