Problem with point deductions being introduced RCB is you open the door to opportunists and their ability to easily infiltrate a fan base and influence such action.
You have to identify the culprits responsible and hit them as hard as the law allows, it is the only way

Yes, that is the very problematic element in my proposal, and I don't have a good argument to make against your point. I'm not so naive as to think it couldn't happen, or that the people who might want to make it happen would not find ways to avoid any association with their own club.

More targetted searches of supporters entering a ground? More comprehensive CCTV coverage of all spectator areas? I personally don't like either of those things, but needs must. As you say, identification of the perps. is vital.

I'm not sure I 'd go along with your third comment no way do I want to be sat amongst some of those morons, I prefer to get into the seating area in plenty of time and make sure I'm as far away from those guys as possible.

Northampton tickets were pretty much sold out to those in the top brackets of the loyalty scheme with a handful to season ticket holders. There were still pyros there. People will pass on tickets and as everyone sits where they want there is no way to police it, other than being searched on the way in. I'm not smuggling pyros in so for me they can search me if they want but that statement does sound like they have identified some and are actively cancelling season tickets.

As @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler said earlier, what the frig were the police doing yesterday?

Not naive at all it has to start somewhere it will be the fans who want to go to away games to sit and enjoy a game of football who will be the losers and thats not fair, the minority spoiling it for the majority.

I would say that the flare/smoke bomb incidents are largely restricted to a small number of people who are City supporters. I would guess that most of them are under 25 and tend to congregate in a small area.

When we went last night, I said to my friend, that if we sat closer to the end allocated to City supporters, rather than Crewe, we would avoid the ‘lunkheads’ and although the language of some was restricted to heavy/repetitive obscenities, there were no flares or trouble.

At Valley Parade, then as far as I am aware there haven’t been incidents with flares/smoke bombs in the Main (Morrison’s) or Midland Road (Bradford Lifts). It is largely fine and apart from some swearing, is an environment which is relatively child friendly.

I think you are being unfair on all of us on Bantam Talk, who go to games, when you say, ‘l have absolutely ZERO incentive to take my kids to a Bradford game (home or away) sat amongst our own supporters’. I know several on here and I am more than happy to sit with them and all the people I sit with at VP in the Main Stand.

I personally would avoid the Kop (but then I prefer a view of the match from the side of the pitch), and I am not sure if flares/smoke bombs have been set off in the North West Corner.

It is all about balance and perspective.

They may be supporters but do we need them as a club? One fine from the FA will probably wipe out a lifetime of money the club makes from having them follow us

Once upon a time, it would have been taken care of in house. i.e. whichever young ruffian did it would have been wised up by a few senior fans. Basically, been given a good hiding.

Problem is, back in the day you looked up to your elders. Many of the current cretin youth brigade don’t have respect for anyone, unless you’ve got X amount of followers on tik tok. They ain’t gonna listen to some fella who used to have a dust up in the 70s.

I was at Rochdale AFC, on business yesterday. They were full of admiration for the sheer size of our numbers, but thought we were the worst behaved they could ever remember.

I still can't get over what idiot decides to interrupt the flow of the match when your teams on top.

It's left a sour taste in my mouth, to the point of where I'm almost indifferent about promotion. I'm sure that will change if we seal the play-off's on Monday, but it's done far more to deflate the club that our injury time collection of howlers.

Pacifying? By questioning the hyperbole of a lifetime ban? These are young kids we are talking about, they've got potential 50 or 60 years ahead of them. I'm guessing a bit here but i expect in your profession nothing comes with a lifetime ban unless the severity is something hugely important? Do we not live in a society which allows people to atone for their errors, apologise and learn from the errors of their ways? I'm sorry but wanting to ban someone for a lifetime for throwing letting off one of these devices is just wrong.

That's pure conjecture on your part. The fact is the death penalty did not deter people from murdering people, someone going out with the intention to murder cares nothing for the repercussions.

Oh I thought they were Rochdale fans in the clip!

If they were City fans then my heart just sinks.

Yes, of course it's a fact that other clubs fans sometimes set off pyros. In fact, it's a statement of the bleeding obvious. So bleeding obvious that it sounded like whataboutery - ie it doesn't matter as much because others do it as well. Why even mention other fans use of pyros if you're not trying minimise the behaviour of ours?

You said that there are blinkered people who think it's only our fans who set off pyros. I'm questioning whether any such people exist. Who on here, or anywhere else, has ever claimed that we are the only club that has this issue? I say no one.

What does make it actually worse that some of our fans throw flares and smoke bombs, is the club's fire history. Many older fans who attended the tragic game, me included, simply cannot excuse the use of pyros at matches by our supporters, for obvious reasons. Any blinkered people who make excuses for throwing pyros at our matches should understand and acknowledge that fact.
