This is an interesting article and within it are links to several other articles with differing viewpoints about how to deal with the growing problems of pyro. Some want bans. Some want it coordinating and controlling. Whilst many UK fans reference growing pyro use abroad, they overlook the growing injury list, and increasing fines imposed on such as German clubs as authorities struggle with how to educate and control those who don't comply with rules.

    https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/23279710.safe-pyro-gains-support-germany-amid-anger-police-repression/?ref=twtrec

Yachting organisations are trying to get pyros banned as dangerous old technology that occasionally causes injury or fires when they malfunction - even spontaneously in one case quoted. The death was from an exploding rocket flare but others are under scrutiny, too.

We didn't lose the game because of the pyro stuff, poor management on and off the pitch, lost that game.

Absolutely gutted and hanging this morning. However, our destiny is in our hands, we can and will get the result needed come Monday.

Which includes threats of sanctions including capacity and allocation restrictions. I seem to remember someone on here telling me that would never happen.

I live in Amsterdam. For Ajax v Feyenoord away fans are not allowed to the games. In fact, there is a ‘ban’ on any supporters/people wearing opposition colours and clothing within a certain radius of the city (inc public transport) - don’t know the reality of how this is policed.

These are indeed extreme and isolated examples of managing negative crowd related issues and of course not relevant to what we experienced last night. However the sentiment I am getting at is that the above 3 points can be considered as well as points deductions, however ultimately they rarely achieve the desired effect.

The club needs to start by becoming way more strict on this and managing cause before it occurs, rather than the aftermath.

I get to watch all home and away games via iFollow, my only ‘live’ game this season came on the weekend at Northampton where I took my daughter for her first City game, sat (as a guest) amongst the home fans. I miss the days of stood amongst City fans however in current times i have absolutely ZERO incentive to take my kids to a Bradford game (home or away) sat amongst our own supporters. It kills me to say this, but when I see and hear examples such as last night and Hartlepool away last season, I become more deterred than attracted as the potential experience seriously isn’t worth it, and I don’t want my kids to be exposed to this.

Club need to take this seriously and consider what the impact of some of the recent years ‘business’ decisions (eg ticket prices) are having on the bigger picture.

Sad, cause this is a small isolated group of morons having a big impact now off and on the field.

    Over to you Sparks…..

The solution is to stop selling away tickets on general sale.
This behaviour only happens at games like Rochdale / Crewe / Oldham etc. where it’s a local game with large away capacities.
Didn’t see it at Gillingham or Crawley.

Northampton tickets were pretty much sold out to those in the top brackets of the loyalty scheme with a handful to season ticket holders. There were still pyros there. People will pass on tickets and as everyone sits where they want there is no way to police it, other than being searched on the way in. I'm not smuggling pyros in so for me they can search me if they want but that statement does sound like they have identified some and are actively cancelling season tickets.

As @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler said earlier, what the frig were the police doing yesterday?

One of the games under investigation is Northampton and very few of them went on sale to general season ticket holders. They've also said more than a dozen season tickets were seized before the Gillingham home match so that will either be as they were banned or in possession of a pyrotechnic.

Me too. I started watching City in the late 80s with my first season ticket been in the early 90s. As a young teenager (13yrs+) mine and my friends parents were comfortable with friends and i getting on the club organised coach to away games. We never felt at risk, intimidated nor did we cause trouble.

Not a chance in HELL I would ever let my kids do the same in current climate.

It's not that bad to be fair. There are a number of morons who do this kind of thing and they are easily identified. When you went into the ground last night you could tell that the two blocks at the end of the side stand was where all the trouble would kick off from. The rest of the stand was perfectly fine with the exception of someone tipping some drink on Mellor near the middle.

I took my daughter last night and at no stage did I feel threatened inside or outside the ground.

I do however remember the days of being a youngster and going on the official wallace arnold coaches that City used to put on to away games, and it is still like that in 90% of the away end.

The morons gravitate toward the home fans. Last night the pyros etc were in exactly the same place as they were at Rochdale.

It would be interesting to find out why the referee took both teams aside, was it our idiots or was it the drone, it must have been pretty low or how would the referee see it ?.

We certainly didn't help ourselves but the referee stopping the game certainly impacted on our performance once the game started again Crewe we rocking and we looked dangerous everytime we went forward, so for me the added time did us no favours but as we know from past experiance we're hardly the best team in the league with regards seeing a game out.
I'm with you our destiny is still in our own hands come Monday.

I think the club should try and get ahead of the inevitable sanctions and create some videos educating the idiots about the danger of pyros. We have a unique history and lots of mental and physical scars still remain amongst our fanbase. Get the players to feature and both educate about the fire and ask for our fans to stop using pyros at matches. Plaster these all over social media and maybe some of the numbskulls will wake up and stop using them. I'm probably being naïve in hoping for such an impact but at the very least it might dilute some of the flak heading our way from the authorities.

You are being naive in thinking the no pyro no party brigade give a toss about what others think. After all it gets them likes on twitter and youtube and something to brag about in the school yard come Monday.

So our out of control fans must have been the reason, of course as many have said it was a small minority but unfortunatly that's all it takes.

If they are convicted of an offence, then the making of a Community Order by the courts, with a specific tariff that they attend at a designated centre from an hour before a match for a three hour Community Work Session. Say 150 hours, would see them out of circulation, put something back into Society and have time to reflect on the question, 'is it worth it'?
