I fear that a combination of greed and covid will finish off football as we know it , our generation would just have to live off the happy memories that we have witnessed over the last 50/60 years, sad really...

The same clubs who were so vocal in blocking the Saudi led take over at Newcastle. They are a cartel and don’t want anyone else upsetting the apple cart. They don’t want a repeat of Man City

I ask you this, the efl have known for 6 months that they are facing a massive black hole in finances. What have they done about it? Nothing.
my theory is Parry has been discussing this for long enough with the top 6 and he knew we would get desperate as a league and have to accept it. It stinks

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the premiership votes on this. Let's face it, the EFL goes to the bargaining table virtually empty handed and have a track record of signing whatever is put in front of them as long as it benefits the Premier league.

Rick Parry would seem to be a problem. He's better off out of that group, if it's true. David has integrity, the rest....

You would genuinely think there wasn't enough money in British football.

That is the embarrassing situation we find ourselves in due to chronic, long-term mismanagement of the game.

Yep, total fiddle and a racket run by rich owners.

They can all kindly do one and leave English football for good, I wouldn't miss any of them one bit.

Why should I drop it? There is a lot I don’t agree with and a fair bit I do like. But we can’t just accept it because we need money now. It’s so short sighted it’s unreal.

Unless the owners of league one and two teams know the exact figures their clubs will be receiving they are very foolish even contemplating it, as you say the Championship will be getting the big slice of the cake, Holloway was on SSN last night and spoke so much sense.
This was very much an American thing, where apparently in one American sport there is no promotion to the top division, starts with a reduction to 18 clubs of which the top 9 clubs have the biggest say why would it not then be reduced in the future to 16.
He was saying the money football generated for the Exchequer the government should be more involved rather than this proposal, what a choice, an incompetent government or a set of money grabbing Premiership club owners.

Exactly if they go the way of the 18 teams they are planning on an international premier league tournament every other summer. Held in Asia etc. And they try and make out it’s for the good of the English game. Rubbish. To line their pockets

They won't walk away, it's just bartering. The tough part of the negotiations will be getting the rest of the premier league to effectively vote 2 of themselves out of a potential future place in the division. How the likes Man U and Liverpool persuade the likes of West Brom and Fulham that this is a good idea is anybodys guess.

I'm a bit 50/50 about this. Do think it will make PL more competitive if they leave, but would be shame to miss out on the cup ties. I am sick of liverpool and the uniteds moan and bleat on about domestic obligations though so I be glad if they leave.

FIFA run the joke that is the world club championship, why on earth would you let them loose on the UEFA Champions League- where you dont have to be a champion to win it!

Currently you dont get man u v juventus or liverpool v psg every year in the UEFA tournament, the new league will soon get boring and apparently the founding members cant be relegated.
Let them pay a fortune for it and fleece the supporters something rotten and then reap the backlash as the punters boycott the sorry mess.

It's no surprise this talk of a European league is being mooted again.

The Champions League is a tired format with far too many pointless games, I mean tonight you had Rennes v Krasnador. I mean, really, unless you are a fan of either of these teams, would you watch it?

I'm not surprised these talks have come around again. Will it happen, I'm not convinced whatsoever

I'm not surprised by it either and it has taken far too long to get even partially resolved. It looks as though the EFL and some of the Championship clubs were simply using the lower league clubs as bargaining chips with the PL clubs.

Rick Parry to me looks to have joined the EFL with prior motives to help his old employers out?
