they turned it down as simply there are three leagues in the EFL. it's more about solidarity. really its the governments fault if they go bust. the govt telling someone else to pay up for rules that they themselves enforce. pure madness

I'm a bit 50/50 about this. Do think it will make PL more competitive if they leave, but would be shame to miss out on the cup ties. I am sick of liverpool and the uniteds moan and bleat on about domestic obligations though so I be glad if they leave.

The Champions league format runs until 2024.

However, this is a league. 38 games. Up to 5 teams in England will take part. 4.6BN back to create the league.

This will end the PL really because this will be a league and people around the world will be more interested in that league then the PL.

It will be top 5-6 teams leaving mate. Not just Liverpool and Utd. Then over time it will top 5-10.

I meant a 'real' league where all teams play each other and not the Champions League as currently configured.

Yeah, but this will be nearly every week and lets be honest it will end the domestic league interest.

Teams will put out B teams in the PL and within time move away from the PL as we know it.

I don't know about the involvement of B teams but if 5 or 6 'big' club leave the PL, it will have a major impact on Sky and BT revenues for the remaining clubs. It might hopefully start to bring some sanity back into domestic football.

If you say so. There’s plenty of other big clubs to take their place. Off they trot. See how they get on. If they want to come back they can start in non-league.

And what happens if Man U or Liverpool end up near the bottom of these new super leagues. Do they think fans will have such a clamour to watch them then? “Today is Man U vs PSG in clash to decide who finishes 14th, live from Abu Dhabi”.
Sounds thrilling. As I say they can go.
It’s the fans of these clubs I feel sorry for. How can they afford trips abroad to watch their teams every other weekend? They are being robbed of their clubs.

Let’s build a league without them. All those rivalries and history we have England. We don’t the self indulgent top 6 to make good leagues with good football

FIFA run the joke that is the world club championship, why on earth would you let them loose on the UEFA Champions League- where you dont have to be a champion to win it!

Currently you dont get man u v juventus or liverpool v psg every year in the UEFA tournament, the new league will soon get boring and apparently the founding members cant be relegated.
Let them pay a fortune for it and fleece the supporters something rotten and then reap the backlash as the punters boycott the sorry mess.

I couldn't care less about Liverpool or Manchester United. My team for the past 60 odd years has been and always will be Bradford City.

Eh Fifa and Uefa are two separate organisations.

A league will be a league. Leagues don't get boring. The format no different to currently leagues barring a round robin with top 4 at the end. Is Rugby league boring. Same format as that.

Yes it effects Bradford City and every other EFL and the other PL clubs because the TV companies will pay vast amounts to broadcast these games as the away fans wont be able to afford to keep travelling abroad to see their team and that will mean that the TV deals to broadcast matches played in England will be worth peanuts. So much for them being very generous in their recent offer of 25% of revenue from TV deals to be given to EFL clubs! Probably wouldn't even pay the rent for VP for a year.

Let them go but like someone else posted if it all goes wrong put them straight into 8th tier non league but they also give up any competitions run by the fa so they can't play 2nd teams to just carry their names on in English football

Not a chance it will happen for a start any player in that league wouldn’t be eligible to play for England. They have talked about it for years and nothing ever comes from it

As I say, let them go and form their super league. I will neither miss them nor watch them.
