Loved it thanks Ade. We hadn’t been back for over 35 years . Wife wanted to find the location of the hospital where she was born….10 mins walk on the canal from the hotel! Great to get a “ cake” from the Skipton Chip shop . Can’t get them down here!
Plenty of circular drives round the dales . Hawes , Settle. A train up the Settle line to Carlisle and back…Wow stunning!
Cliff Castle museum at your place, Haworth etc.
Crowning glory ..,we came back with 40 pork pies from Stanforths, now safely in the freezer. ( Some for son and daughter! )
Fortunately we managed to dodge the showers all week!

We do miss the place. Quite a few “ looks” in estate agents windows too!

Only regret…I couldn’t get a game in!

 

From what I'm seeing we look to have far more pace, movement, passing through midfield and general attacking intent than last season.
When players get the ball under pressure there are others showing for the ball to keep it moving, rather than it always going back to Lewis or the CBs. I know they're playing mostly youngsters but I've been pretty impressed so far.

 

I'm not making comments with regards players until I've seen them in a game that means something not pre season friendly games, BUT Mark Hughes has been at the club since 22nd February 2022 he's had 3 transfer windows in that time and along with Stephen Gent has to be held accountable for players who have worn the shirt during their watch.
I'm not shouting for his head but this is the season we have to get out of this league, not because were big b**ls Bradford City but because in my case I'm finding watching Bradford City especially at Valley Parade a chore and that has rarely been the case in my 65 years or so of supporting our team, and if that was the case it was because the manager at the time was under financial constraints that is not the case under Mark Hughes.
As with every other season football fans will be optimistic with regards how their team will perform I'm no different I hope this will be our season, but lets say I've been more optimistic in the past, Hughes is talking as if he intends to play "on the front foot" whatever that means so lets hope that not only delivers the results but they are won with attractive football, there will be games where we have to be more defensive as a team but lets have a situation where teams worry about Bradford City not vice versa.

 

Nothing wrong with playing out from the back....its faffing around side ways and backwards that is our problem. We need to be a bit more forward thinking and direct.

 

That's good, we always had a healthy rivalry with Bury, and to be the team that 're-opens' gigg Lane is an honour.

 

No enthusiasm at all for the new season yet.

Not sure if hangover from playoff disappointment, quiet and underwhelming transfer activity so far, or the dreaded 3 at the back.

Hopefully a good win at Crawley will bring me round

It’ll be the last time I buy a ticket for this fixture. The club have lost my trust by reducing this game to a kids runaround when it was billed as a first team friendly which they sold 2000 tickets in advance for.
The Bolton game might well have been a better workout and in that case they should have fessed up and cancelled todays game at BPA or at least offered a refund for what really amounts to mis-selling.

 

No idea what kind of Boro team this is but we’ve played fairly well. Quick passing with intent. I’m impressed with our new right wing back from Brentford again. He can defend and has a good cross on him.
Play like this in the league and we should have a successful season. The midfield is completely different to last which was our main problem.

Who cares? BPAs finances have no significance to us whatsoever.

Let's concentrate on ourselves and if Hughes thinks playing Bolton was the better move for our preparation then so be it.

 

Pointon has caused more issues in 5 minutes than any other attacker/midfielder did in the first 60. Liking the look of this lad hope he’s in the first team squad this year.

 

Coming back from the injury he had he was never going to look the same player during the back end of last season. I’m really pleased he’s showing what he’s about so far this preseason.

No problem playing out from the back its all about movement OFF the ball giving options to the player ON the ball.

He should have gone after Carlisle for a failed season. A season that represented progress but still resulted in failure.

the board seemingly back him and fans got STs in their numbers, but there is discontent waiting to be unleashed at home when teams park the bus, we create nothing, we fanny about at the back and chuck more points late when conceding late in games.

 

I'd have thought @Fordy117 would have picked me up on that one.
