It doesn't need to be correct it just needs to be continually stated. It's not even just the journalists, the players talked about it on the context of BLM when they were wearing it on their shirts. It get's into people's heads that it's what it's about and you can't just reverse it any more than you could make people think that the Roman Salute was related to the US pledge of Allegiance rather than Fascism

And as I've said I don't believe it does come from the 60s - the picture of MLK was him praying rather than the act of kneeling and I've never seen any other reference to it. The other sport I follow is NFL so was pretty well versed in the Kaepernick situation and never once was it mentioned that it flowed from earlier protests.

Not really as the companies would refuse and due to how the internet works the government would struggle to close it down

Lots of black players are routinely abused using racist language, either at the match or on social media when they make a mistake on the football field.
They find it unacceptable and so do their team mates. That is why they are making this small gesture at the beginning of every match. They wouldn't feel the need to do so if the racist abuse didn't happen.
It seems quite clear to me what they are doing and why and is nothing to do with you booing or not. Others give them racist abuse.

You just slagged your own argument off with that first line. :joy: Say a lie enough times and it becomes a reality. Donald Trump is a good example of that.

Instagram recently managed to trial removing the 'like' feature from certain countries to see if it improved mental health amongst the young, or something amongst those lines. So it shouldn't be difficult to ensure everyone is verified with ID in certain countries to use an account.

Yeah it's true though and it's different to it coming from a single individual like Trump. If you're told by every single news source that this is a gesture in support of BLM then that's what it is.

Just found an open letter from the FA.

    https://www.thefa.com/news/2020/jun/18/equality-in-football-leadership-letter-paul-elliott-180620

"It fills me with huge pride that, for the remainder of the season, teams playing in the Premier League, EFL and the Emirates FA Cup will support the Black Lives Matter campaign"

On the other the hand black players don't kneel because they feel the gesture means nothing like Wilfred zaha and Lewis grabban

As I said earlier bring on the debate and I will go face to face with anyone to prove the gesture is anything but helping the situation

And how do you verify they are in that country. Plenty of people on here apparently watch City games whilst physically in the UK by iFollow thinks that are in Spain

Of course they could be completely wrong with their opinion. Added for some balance.

Yes it does but just because they say something doesn't mean they are correct. But they are entitled to be heard.

Desperate for what? My whole point is that the action was initially linked to BLM and you can't just make people forget that so of course those types of things will be from the early period before the FA tried to distance themselves from it. Strange comment.

What do you expect, a monthly update to the statement? A statement from the FA last year regarding the same issue which is currently still ongoing is more than a reputable source, is it not?

So in that case you would agree being persecuted and losing their jobs was wrong.

That wouldn't be the likes of me, my ire was solely against Southgate for his ridiculous virtuous decision to try and engineer a black player to win the final for England..
