I don't presume to know why people applaud, stay silent, or boo, and unless such people publicly explain their reactions, or perhaps tell us in person, neither should you. Whichever option one picks, one can come up with "right" and "wrong" reasons for doing so. I am not so naive as to think that everybody does what they do for the "right" reasons.

I do propose that there *are* well-rationalised and logically-driven arguments on the opposite side, and I maintain that football supporters, rather than being the knuckle-dragging thugs of stereotype who are incapable of thinking on anything but the most basic level, are on the contrary perfectly capable of such higher thought. If that leads some to boo, so be it. Most of us, I expect, would choose to remain silent. And again, I am not so naive as to think that all those who boo do so for the "right" reasons.

I actually don’t think Saka is a standout player at that level and I definitely would not have selected him to take the kick, in fact I was screaming for him to be taken off he had been so ineffective but this "Southgate for his ridiculous virtuous decision to try and engineer a black player to win the final for England” is a bit of an odd assertion.

I still don't recall anyone ever throwing inflatable 'nanas at a player. They're inflatable, how do you throw something that's similar to a balloon in density? You'd need to be stood next to them and even then it probably wouldn't be directable.


I'm still no closer to understanding the relevance of the 9th minute on Sky Sports. I rarely watch football on TV (sometimes in a pub or a big PL game at a friend's house). So I honestly don't know what you're attempting to infer by this? Can you just say it instead of beating around the bush?

Ultimately, this is about black people attempting to achieve parity with white people, initially spurred on by how they're treated by the police and judicial system. But also in terms of opportunity. How many black CEO's are there within FTSE 100 companies (Zero)? Or black professional football managers? That has to be because of something other than talent. BLM are saying it's because of their race and it's difficult to argue otherwise, unless you have an agenda.

Of course it wasn't. Only a paranoid right wing conspiracy theorist would come up with such a ridiculous idea.
Southgate had the chance to become the first England manager to win an international tournament since Ramsey in 1966. But, instead of picking the players he thought performed best at taking penalties in training, he decided that he'd risk losing his historic opportunity in order to make a point of having a black player score the winning penalty. You're dead right about the CEO's but my question back would be how many would you statistically expect there to be?

As for football managers there's two in the Premier League and probably another 4 at the rest of the clubs. Is that too low in your opinion?

 

Does anybody know the reason why City players stopped taking the knee at the back end of last season.
