    Likewise.

I find it all somewhat coincidental....

Look at what has happened over a very short period of time

Gates falling and continue to fall
Poor takeup on next year's season tickets
    Some sponsors getting nervous
Letters of concern sent to Rupp by fans but initially ignored
Rupp visits VP for 2nd time this season and sees and hears the fans' concerns for first time for himself
    'House' mag criticises Rupp publicly

(I won't mention the imbalance in the squad from the season start where deficiencies are obvious to most fans and not rectified at the time.)

In response, Rupp issues open letter responding to fans' concerns etc and promising changes to improve things including reinforcing footballing matters.

David Sharpe arrives at short notice as a new broom and immediately identifies longer term issues which again have been plainly in sight for some time.

I wish Sharpe every success in his new role and wonder to myself how it all came to this. If I were the owner, I'd be asking myself the very same question and why it suddenly all came to a head as it has done. Have I set the wrong objectives for the club? Probably yes! Who didn't have his finger on the pulse to keep me abreast of important issues and to advise me to change tack? Mmmm

Maybe the penny is finally starting to drop with him that it is the fans that are the lifeblood of this club and the people who genuinely have its best interest at heart. The fans are the ones that will still be here long after Sparks has trotted off and are the ones who hurt when we see the damage being done to our club. We aren't moaning for the sake of moaning, we are genuinely concerned. Maybe, just maybe he is beginning to get that. I hope so.

Its funny as Sharpe is only pointing out what fans on here have been stating for years. I'll cut Sparks a little slack here, when your boss has shown very little interest other than to check his bank account remains untouched, then there is an element of fire fighting to your job description and you might lose sight of a possible bigger picture.

I'll cut him a little slack, but only a little, since his absent boss has set him incomplete objectives. But Sparks is the CEO of our club - he is far from being the office junior- and should expect to function as a CEO in a proper fashion. And that should be more than simply complying with what his boss wants in the here and now. He should also have been looking to the future and not simply waiting for the future to come to him. The contrast between our current CEO and a past CEO from another lower league club who has only been here two minutes is stark.

Can't disagree with any of that. As a CEO it's your role to work WITH the owner, not just wilfully obey every command like some faithful lapdog.

Agree. I am more and more thinking that after the Mansfield game it was Rupp who summoned Sparks to Germany rather than the other way round. Rupp isn't stupid. He will have seen the poor performance, the unhappiness amongst supporters and the small crowd. He may appreciate the commercial activities Sparks has initiated but not much else. I suspect Sparks was told to find some football expertise or else. I think he (Sparks) might be in the last chance saloon.

Welcome to Bradford City, Mr Sharpe. Hopefully, this kickstarts our plan and helps us implement our vision for the next couple of seasons.

I hope he's ruthless, too. No more offering past it players new one year deals like Ridehalgh. Not sure, perhaps League One.

I browsed the Mansfield forum and they all seemed to have only positive things to say. Very happy with this appointment. Fingers crossed it's the start of something better than what we've endured the last five years.

    Agree.

rupp isn’t stupid, no, but his passiveness can easily be taken as neglect of his duties here. Was he kept in the dark by Sparks until the Mansfield game? He has shown so little interest its hard to know.

hopefully the threat of the fan demo has proven the turning point, first with the letter and commitments made, then the first bit of action appointing Sharpe.

i feel a bit more optimistic again. Hopefully Sparks takes a backseat and avoids the limelight for a while now. Let Sharpe be the public face.

Because at the time Julian thought we could establish ourselves as a Championship club and the rent wouldn't be a problem.

Wow!!! Short sighted in my view. We were crawling around on our knees, how on earth did he think that somehow we were going to revive ourselves. An enormous risk in my view.

Correct mate and that is why these guys got into the likes of your above, chicken feed compared to what our owner wants for us, maths not my strongest subject but if we are to believe Rupp wants £10,000,000 the owners of above said clubs have one hell of a start on us, that's not including Wrexham as they are unique with regards their owners.

There was plenty of short sighted decisions made around those dark days, most by Julian I'm given to believe, Gordon Gibb though we could trade under the 2nd admin deal but Julian didn't/wasn't and I believe (could be wrong) Julian and David were the major share holders, I'm sure I'll be corrected if it wasn't the case.

^^^^^^^^^^^^100%, although listening to the interview with big Sam he believed the decision to sack him was made far to early, but I believe most fans were bored to death and far from confident his way was the right way even in those few games.

That's where I'd be holding on for dear life, the few times I did go skating I was on my backside most of the time.

I did question that after reading Rupps article is he going to stand Sharpes salary untill the club are in a position to generate his salary hopefully it won't come out of the player budget ?.

Sharpe will have been on a good wedge at Mansfield I'd have thought, do you think we've head hunted him our he took the job hoping to make his salary more lucrative as we become more successful ?.

Sharpe hasn't been at Mansfield for some time according to the club website. He stepped down to concentrate on non-footballing stuff and later felt the need to get back into football.

So a bit like Hughes, I hope this turns out a better appointment.
My bad I though he was part of the reason they look like getting promoted this season.
