As far as I am aware, Chellow dene is owned by BMDC and absolutely nothing to do with Yorkshire Water. It hasnt been used as a water storage place for years. My point is that they should be - like Hewenden, Doe Park and many others.

I think you are mistaken about this pipeline. It may run to Chellow Heights Water Plant, but it they certainly don't take any water out of Chellow dene. The only purpose that serves is as a nature reserve and to supply Bradford Beck via Jackie & Pitty Becks

Edit - Hewenden & Doe Park are still owned by Yorkshire Water. Chellow Dene by BMDC

From the internet when searching who owns Chellow Dene

Bradford Council for wildlife and recreational purposes. A wildlife corridor
Between them they hold around 75 million gallons (341 million litres) of water but are no longer part of Bradford's supply. Since 1974 they have been owned and managed by Bradford Council for wildlife and recreational purposes.

Yes, you're right, never knew that. However, the site is the end of the supply from the reservoirs in the upper Nidd valley which, after passing through Chellow Heights Water Treatment works, is used to supply most of Bradford.
I think my point still stands, though, that what people see when drving around does not give an accurate picture of the overall situation.

It does somewhat, we need rain and lots of it. East Anglia is not unlike a parched desert. I am not joking.
On a happy note , the pup saw rain for the first time for about 3 mins this afternoon, she’s 5 months!

Let’s hope I don’t have a storm on the way down tonight.?
