Agreed. Many better keepers than Wilson have been caught out by accurate surprise snapshots from distance. I'm sure @Interested Bystander will remember Mervyn Day going through a phase of being done off his line several times in the 70s. The main fault was Akpan's for handing the opportunity to Toney on a plate and the referee for allowing the free kick to be taken several yards forward of where the foul occurred.

I questioned at the time how Wilson was responsible for the third goal. The replay confirms he made a good save and it was slack marking of Madison at fault.

Wilson made a really good one on one save late in the game to keep us in the tie. I also thought his kicking and distribution was streets ahead of what we've seen from O'Donnell so far.

Clearly O'Donnell is the better keeper and deservedly first choice. But I though Wilson did ok and didn't deserve the knee jerk stick he got from some quarters.

 

Trying to put a winning run together is paramount for confidence and to experience actual progress up the league.

We are better but still bottom.Jan window needs to be our victory if we are to get who we need to make survival happen.

 

We need to play our strongest team.Winning games is vital if we want to get out of the mess we're in.

The risk is injuries but we now know we weren't set up properly in the fitness dept.Now we have a top fitness coach and ice baths to treat knocks.

The chances of injuries are probably less but the financial gains which can go towards team strengthening in Jan will also be vital.

Winning is what counts as playing under strength teams could be counter productive.

 

Perhaps he wants to rest our most valuable player this season, for something more important than a cup game ie...keeping us in the league. O'Donnell did something to his arm during the match on the weekend, so maybe he's being extra cautious. If DH had picked O'Donell for this game, and he got injured and was out for weeks - missing LEAGUE matches, then there would also be uproar from folk also.

Staying in League One is a priority, not losing to Middlesboro in the next round.

 

Hope all is ok and she is on the road to recovery mate.

 

Disagree it's a squad game, issues crop up throughout the season, injuries, suspensions, lack of form or even personal issues. If the replacements aren't up to scratch that's on the guy who sorts recruitment, that will be Hopkin from January onward but not now.

 

7 goals in 2 games and all we have to show for it is a solitary league point and a cup exit. Very frustrating

Even though we lost, I had a great time at VP last night. It’s been a while since I have been able to say that.
One take away for me was that our defence is in desperate need of improvement, new lb & 2 cb’s on jan 1st please. Also Henry isn’t up to the task, am I correct in thinking his contract is only until January?

It was a bit disappointing from the ref. OK I can understand a free kick being taken from the wrong spot if it was somewhere between the 18 yrd and centre spot. The foul was clearly just inside the Peterborough half, there's a bloody big fat white line that tells you that. It was taken some 3 yards inside the Bradford half, again there's a big fat white line that makes it obvious.

 

Tough one with regard to stopping it being taken quickly as you're risking an early booking. Akpan maybe shoud've kept hold of the ball for longer and delayed that way.

With regard to Wilson, I was sat in line with the penalty area and don't remember his positioning being abnormal. You have to admire the execution from Toney's part because it did literally just dip under the bar. It was quick thinking and he carried it out perfectly.

 

Full strength team for me. 2 games in a week should be well within the capabilities of the players.

She was gonna reply why you sending random messages to engaged people but i said hold off, if we win you can send one back with an extra up yours, adding her fella is a Bradford City fan hahaha


So i already wanted us to GO FOR IT but now i REALLY want us to proper dump them out the cup so can send the ginger prick back to peterboro out the fa cup & he can read the reply on the bus back hahahah
